Other Missing shipment - what would you do?

The seller is helping me out big time. They are filing a claim, it seems the stated value was $150, plus shipping. So maybe 200 in total. I am keeping my fingers crossed. The down-side to this story is that about $275 worth of the order was for my buddy, he hasn't payed anything yet and I do not really know how to deal with this. Crap.

I had USPS take 30 some day to get from NY to Canada once. I can see Canada from my house. USPS can get sketchy but it is cheapest. Id wait a while longer. I bit the bullet had another set ready to ship when I recieved an email stating the stuff finally arrived. Takes a good person on each end to be honest also.
 
Had a shipment get lost somewhere between CT and the West Coast...
Sent about 2.5 weeks ago, still no package showed up to the buyer of it.
Thanks USPS. Ya really screwed me with that one.

UPS pays the damaged goods claim to the Shipper, not the receiver.
Always thought that was silly

thats because they will only pay the shippers "cost of goods" not what the buyer paid you, its a total scam on their part, as is giving you the "option" of insuring $$ against their non-performance of what you hired them to do

We file claims all the time.. In terms of claiming "cost of goods"...Nobody is researching what it costs.. Always put list price... If you don't insure the extra $5 it will take to cover list price.. That's your gamble. But, in a world where the BUYER pays the shipping, insurance is a no brainer.. Every time you insure it.. Otherwise, you're setting yourself up to have to ship a bunch of broken chit here and there to place claims.. Like the way I learned my lesson...

In business, the customer is always right.. Unless the customer specifically states "just ship it with no insurance, it'll get here anyway..", then, it's all on the shipper. That's just the way it goes...

Now, another argument you can have is the fact that $100 was the repair value, based on damage that may occur during shipping. If you lay into them hard enough, they will give in. Always ask to speak to a supervisor.

No surprise, they are losing money.... :)
 
I would think insurance is for damage items if they lose is then that's a different story. It's there fault %100 so they should replace %100 of the item. If I had a car with no insurance and it was being worked on at a shop and was damaged or stolen could it be the shops fault. Could you see them saying well sorry the car wasn't insuranced have a great day!!!!

any updates?

Nope. Will get back to the shipper this week. No shipment either. At least my buddy was cool about it, we'll split whatever the loss will be. I have been buying stuff from the US since 2006 and this is the first hick-up yet. I have always used USPS. I have probably bought stuff for $3-4000 since then and I know I have saved big time by using a low value on the shipment. All in all, this is a rude awakening....bummer.
