Modding pfp chamber

so if you were to cut apart a pfp, the best thing to do would be just scrap the outer jacket to save a little weight. then run the existing inner jacket wet. this is all assuming someone did not want to have the inner fixed and still run it as a dry pipe.

@Big Kahuna this has not been done several times, removing the INNER chamber in PFP and run the outer and larger volumen chamber as wet pipe?
I have never seen it on the X, nor heard about it here :)
I did hear about it from a Aussie guy, i think he reeds here sometimes, runs a KDX with TPE 1105, said it made huge difference going from inner chamber wet, to outer chamber wet.
One of our guys in our riding group just made 2 pipes out of his, he has only testet the inner chamber, hope we soon get a review on the bigger outer chamber.
Will also get a picture of the outer chamber welded back together.

I've done this on other pipes. I had stampings for various dry pipes over the years and welded up some outers.

Results: The powerband for the same given motor size moves up considerably. You can play with Compression, Timing, water, and Stinger size to some extent but your not going to get a majority of whats gone back. "for the same given motor size"

Yes more top end. Have you even seen a FPP type 8? That volume is huge compared to a B pipe. It’s still the king of Dyno HP for given 800cc superjet engine. type 9 was developed because it didn’t have the low end riders wanted. Also the tapers get screwed up a little because most manifolds don’t get cut in half and made bigger to match.

i have and you a correct, seemes like more pro freestyler goe wet pipe. With multibel injection points
 
This is why I like the r&d pipe, lots of injection points to use for your application. Being Somewhat of a fabricator myself, and now that tnt is scaling back handmade pipes, a custom chamber is something I'd like to try building eventually. Even out of just mild steel for starters.
 
If anyone is interested in converting a FPP Type 8 Chamber into a Lay down (wet or dry) pipe, I have one available (chamber only) - $75.00 plus shipping.

As it has previously been mentioned, this pipe made more power on the dyno than any other pipe on the market but left a lot to be desired as far as bottom end on the sub 800cc motors that existed at the time.

Now that high compression/high timing advance 1000cc + motors are becoming more of the norm, I thought this chamber might be worth experimenting with, but reconfigured as a lay down style pipe.

My plans were to fabricate a new straight section off of the coupler to replace the 90 degree transition and to replace the stinger with an end similar to that found on the PFP.

As it sits, the chamber is ~23 in. across, so depending upon the width of your hull, it may need to be turned for clearance. This chamber will also likely eliminate just about every option for front mounted fuel tanks.

The Type 8 manifolds are the same as the PFP manifolds (aside from the water injection port that Factory pipe put in the bottom of the Type 8 manifolds).
