Custom/Hybrid Modern Yamaha Big Wheel 450cc

I'm fabricating a custom front forks, wheel hubs, and swing arm to turn my Yamaha 450cc dirt bike into a Big Wheel. I'm using modern Rhino tires and all custom parts that can be replicated easily for mass production. So the question is????

If a Big Wheel converstion kit was affordable and easy to install, would you purchase it for your bike? If no, why not? If yes, then what kind of bike would you use?

If I get enough resposes then I will spend the capitol and give the project a go.

I remember those ol big wheeled bikes to be like tractors in the woods.. a big wheeled bike with a briggs&stratton 10hp, now thats fun.. but to tear down the suspension and handling on a 450?? It seems you'd be defeating the purpose and and progression of the bike... id still ride the chit out of it!

Someone in oregon converted their crf450 to a fatcat a couple years ago. His build threads are on the internet. Mostly used for the sand. The old school bw and fatcat look like fun. A modern version would be a blast.

The Honda 450 was built by a dude named Mike. He had a great design and nothing bad could be said about his bike. I'm trying to create a build similair to the old "missile" kits that were mass produced hot swap parts for the Honda 250r trike. Avioding any type of mods to the bike and maintain integrity of the bike will be the key to this project.

I thought there was a youtube posting with a guy out west that had done a more modern type mod or improvement on the BW concept? I remember that thing outclimbing a normal setup, modern 4stroke. It had a paddle wheel type rear tire.

Back to your question though, I'd like to have a more modern version of a bigwheel. They were fun to rip around flat ground on and do some small jumps. Don't know if I'd spend alot of coin on a conversion though. Cool idea.

Well its finally finished. The end result is a kit that can take ur bike from factory to Big Wheel in about 45 mins and is reversible. The bike itself wasn't modified in any way.
