Modified 701 X2 prop choice

I just went back and reread your first post. I'm not trying to sound like a smartass or anything but when you put the pump back in, did you seal the pump shoe? The 650 pump is 1 piece and the shoe must be resealed everytime. Only reason I'm asking is because it sounds like you are cavitating in choppy water. But it sounds like you have 2 separate issues. Impeller being too tall and shoe not sealed well enough. It's a pita and what sucks about the 650 pumps. Learned that the hard way once haha

My bad for not including every detail in first post, but ya my third post I stated Silicone is good. I think the 5/8th throttle comment before it responds good is the best way to describe it. As I think this through it does make sense that the pitch is to high and loading the motor too soon at lower speed. Hookers out the door came in 9/15-10/16 & 11/17 from Dave at Impros. I’m at 12/18. By the time I send this out and get it back Iowa water is dead for wake traffic. I’d need a road trip south, LOL. I’ll look for other exit nozzles and make my own stubby cone along with a re pitch this winter. Watcon spoke of 750 kawi using 10/16. In an X2. Fastgtfairlane u might b on to something.

In my FX1/Kawi 140 pump swaps I wound up using setback OEM SXR 800 impellers. On my 701 B pipe motors they gave pretty good all around performance ( surf, creeks).

What size nozzle?

Supposedly SXR oem impellers are around 13/18, but I have not personally measured one.

Assuming 13/18 is a sxr 800 oem prop that doesn’t mean my 12/18 is nearly identical. Here lies a problem understanding pitches. Unlike tire sizes under a uniform code these props have their own thing going on from mfg to another. I do believe the Hookers are not measured equal as one would think.

Posted pitch numbers are basically meaningless. Thats why I said start with an impeller with no more than 1.5" between blades. A lot of load can be adjusted by bending the trailing edge up and down.
