Has anybody ever modified the stock sxr waterbox? if so how and did you get any gains from it?
The TDR and our 6 hole sound the same amd pull to the same RPM. but the TDR is 7 pounds lighter than a stock SXR box. Our 6 hole has a different hit than the TDR but that's somthing you just can measure it hard to explain but if you try it you get it.
That couldn't be more wrong. A water box can make and change a bunch of power. Without going over this again. Take sometime and read this. You don't need to listen to me, but you do need to understand that what you are doing and charging customers for, it may not be the best thing for them or their motors.Mark, you do clean work on the boxes and I'm not trying to take anyrhing from you on them, but have to disagree that the box needs to be cut apart. The box doesnt do anything but muffle noise and give a certain level of backpressure. There is no magic bouncing off of walls and reverbing going on in there. We can get the backpressure lowered to the point it needs to be without cutting it apart. I have 3 different 64mph + sxr1100's running pump fuel with these boxes on them. I also recommend the mod when we do a ported 800.
Are you still doing the mod?yes we do the drill mod for $150 wil have 3 levels depending on the motor and setup you have. And yes it needs to be cut there is no way you can have it drilled the right way without cutting the box open.
We do different amounts of holes in different places, and then a full gut for built 1100s and bigger.
