650/X-2 more top and bottom end power

what do you have done so far and how much do you want to spend? i would start with the basics - intake grate, ride plate, pipe and maybe mill the head a little. oh and an impeller will make a huge difference.

it all depends on the deals you can find and score. when i had my 650sx i had a coffman pipe with a 15.5 impeller and it was pretty good. check pwc classifieds and craigslist.

You can modify the stock exhaust to work as well as most aftermarket pipes if you know somebody that will weld aluminum and stainless, there have been a couple threads describing it.

Personally I would not spend very much on modding a 650sx but you definitely need a stainless impeller if you don't have one yet.

Prop, carb (38 or 44mm), pipe. That's a few hundred dollars of stuff, after that most mods will be custom and not cost effective to get, better to save for a superjet or a/m.

The answer depends on the size of your carb. Check to see if you have a stock 28mm carb or a 38mm carb. It also depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want to modify things yourself.

This list assumes you have a 38mm carb and want to buy bolt on parts. If you have less than a 38mm carb, buy a carb 1st.

Pipe
Prop
42/44mm carb/intake
intake grate
ignition
waterbox

You can interchange some items on the list. If you have a 38mm or larger carb, the 1st item you should buy is a prop.

A ride plate is not a power modification. It is a handling modification and is not the answer to your question. Handling does effect power, so 0* bars, intake grate (I have some that effect handling like a ride plate does), quick steer (if appropriate for your riding style) and a ride plate are on the top of the list for handling. Foot holds if freeriding. These come in no particular order, as they depend on your riding style. I would suggest a new set of bars, 0* or 4*.

As a side note, I am not supportive of spending that kind of money on a 650 motor. You could go further than my list and port and polish, etc. Waste of money. Buy a larger motor, or better yet, buy a ski that comes with a larger motor.

Would you suggest a kawasaki 750sxi or a 650 superjet?
