Polaroid?...ha ha

I was only looking for some input on that location. I hear there is surf riding plus Taylor Curtis has a shop there so I was planning on visiting the area and perhaps buying something for my ski too. I did a search before but I could not find anything concrete hence my reason for posting. I mind my own business wherever I go and I don’t mess around with anyone, and sure hopes nobody messes with me either.

I wasn't really trying to play a "guess it" game.
I am asking a question. What technology was he using to take his "photographs"?
Duerrographs?
Photographic plates?
Old silver film?

:dunno:

it was Ansel Adams...he was using one of the old camera where you set it up on a stand, and hide under a big blanket/shroud that was attatched to it

like this

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/ansel/sfeature/sf_camera_flash.html

I very vividly remember my father walking up to him and saying "there's only 1 person I know of that still uses this type of equipment..and thats Ansel Adams"

to which he replied

"We'll I'm Ansel Adams, its very nice to meet you"

then I got more interested in watching the shark fins that were chasing mackerel in the bay lol...

That's pretty neat. He died in the following year.
I suppose he was using plates then.

I actually agree with Wydopen. We have a nice surf spot(when there are waves like NOW!) that we ride(Fl gulf coast, don't laugh!) and almost everytime someone will bring that unwanted buddy that rides inside the idle/swim zone or some sit-down rider will ride horizontally along a nice lip just totally aggrevating anyone surfing or enjoying the surf(having surfed there I understand the negative outlook on PWC). Also, At this spot the lifeguards have the authority to block off our un/loading area, and have threatend to do so if they continue to have problems with kooks riding inside the restricted areas. There are to many bad apples to trust with a great riding spot!

your not missing out on anything...there are days when mb is fun but its more of a pita than anything else. especially if your ski breaks...not to mention the coasties have a station there.s..id stick with pismo, there's a reason the locals ride there and the cops are too busy dealing with all the idiots in the dunes to mess with ya.

Maybe next year some of the Californians can stay out of the pelican area on weekends during surf slam then since they understand the consequenses? I am not pointing fingers I am just saying.....

I was just thinking the same thing......at this year's Surf Slam, there were some non-local riders that just had to rip it up at the local surf spot, to the dismay of the local surfers and law enforcement.

Support of the locals and their community is the one big thing needed to make events like surf slam happen. And stuff like that doesn't exactly help.

So, we get it. We wish others did, too.

I was just waiting for someone to say "kook"! :) What it comes down to is surfers are territorial against everything. I remember several months ago, I was surfing out at the rivermouth, and several stand-ups launched and the things they were saying out in the line-up. They were just heading to the power plant and still got ripped.

Man I'm thinking its a good thing we don't have surfers here (a few try) or by the sounds of it we would have surfers around here.....with broken noses.

And I'm glad we don't have any spots that anyone hides....because that would make them a dik.

FYI it was nothing personal against u benny. I don't know you but you seem like a nice enough guy and are stoked on riding. I was short with u in my second response to u because u asked a question and then totally disregarded the answwr given Just some places arnt really suitable for skis. See u at pismo...

Last I checked stan u live about 40min inland and the "locals" are always complaining about u riding where u shouldn't. At least u don't post pictures of those spots on the Internet anymore.
