My built kawi 1100 with a trued and welded crank just grenaded with under 50 to 70 hours or less on it. The only thing I did was put a light weight flywheel on two tanks ago. And before this everything was absolutely mint. Do rods just blow in three pieces?

How did you keep the engine from spinning to torque the new flywheel on? Rope down cylinder trick by chance?

Yes.... But in the middle piston and the rear is the one that threw

Was the fly wheel balanced?

I take it you were running high RPMs when it threw the rod?

I would check port to see if there was an edge that could catch a ring and cause seizure.

A buddy of mines crank broke a rod after 60 hours, this was a highend crank. It hade stress markes on the rod it was a freestyle ski soo no high speed run, i think mad materiale Can bee the issue
