just wondering if anyboby has ever had to replace a motor mount insert, bubby of mine broke off the bolt and in the process of of extracting jacked up the insert. so i had to pull it out (which was a lot harder then expected, had to remove the fiberglass around it) any ideas on where i can get a new one or any ideas on fixxing it.

I know this is an old post, but I am in the same boat and cannot find any info on how to fix this. Anyone have any ideas or know where to find the brass insert?

I did it. Hard to explain, because my english is not that good ;-)

i ground out the rip in the middle (and roughed up all the surfaces in the hole), build a "mould" around the base, inserted some anchors (stainless nails) in the inside of the hole, then filled the hole with epoxy/filler/glas shreds, and inserted a custom bracket (the little plate under the top plate is an extra anchor in the epoxy)

unfortunately i have no pics of the process, but the drawing of the bracket and the finnished mount (now there is a stud insted of the hull insert)

so far i have no problems with the repair (testet 2 years in surf)

hope this is understandable and can help you out

My advice would be find an insert that has threads on the outside, make some kind of temporary mold with milk cartons and duct tape( milk cartons because the inside is already waxed) Take the insert and melt some wax into the bottom of it to close up the bottom threads, make a small bracket that will fit around the insert about halfway down the threads and into the hollow space to the right of the insert, goop up the hollow section with epoxy -cabosil mixture and put the insert-bracket in there, cover the rest of the bracket with the epoxy and fill in the mold with the epoxy mixture, before this sets take the engine mount and put the bolt in the good hole , then lightly thread a bolt into the insert so you can assure they will line up when finished, let this mess dry then sand and shape it.
