Curious to see how many of you actually have had stock motor mounts break on you. Got my whole ski apart, and I'm contemplating getting some used couch mounts while I'm at it, but my OEM mounts are perfectly fine..so I'm not sure.

I also wonder this.... my mounts from my 97' SJ look good.

Dont want to fix whats not broken, but if I need to replace them I prefer to do it while the ski is apart.

Yeah! Exactly. My mounts are 19 years old, and they seem fine. I don't think the previous owner thrashed the ski around that much so I dunno if I should replace em.

The Wamiltons ones seem nice and are supposedly stronger than stock.....I have no proof...I seem to kill em both at some point....but they are tough!

Has there ever been a thread with a bunch of them lined up for HD comparison?

I just replaced my 2004 OEM mounts with Rhaas mounts. 2 of my mounts failed because the top plate separated the rubber. I decided to go with the Rhaas mounts because his mounts are not just a piece of metal glued to a piece of rubber. His mounts have some gnarly teeth and the rubber is formed around these teeth. The tops will not simply separate or twist off. I'm not a very abusive rider. The stock mount bonding method is just weak. Any mount I've had fail has always failed in this way.

I like cheap, but I don't mind spending money on a good product for a good reason. The teeth that keeps the mount in one piece is a very good reason to spend a little extra.

Take your mounts in your hands and give them some side to side force and if you dont see any separations, keep running them. It is definitely a good idea to have a spare set on hand, especially since you can get a spare set of couch mounts for like 40 bucks.

Here in the salt, our SN killed the OEM's that came with it in a year, the first version of RHaas' that weren't billet in 2 years. My buddy's brand new 2010 SJ in one year. I've got some Cold Fusions and the new RHaas right now that hopefully will do some good. All stock motors by the way.

all mounts fail eventually if you drop the ski sideways, upside down or dead flat or just due to salt water corrosion. If you ride ocean and get some air, do not count on 17 years old mounts. If you own an expensive ski, inspect mounts every six months by removing one at the time in order the avoid misalignment and replace them once a year if you really care about your boat. Sometimes the only way to see a compromised mount is by removing it completely off the ski.

Im running the latest 701 industries mounts and have had some big upside down landings in the surf to the point my hood has cracked and they are still going strong. They have a stainless bolt threw them but its set at a distance so its not tight on the mount to add vibration, but allow the mount to flex enough with out completely letting go and xxxxing, the coupler and you engine smashing around in the bay. Lifetime warrantee. I do run keepers though but they don't stop any mount form letting go from landing upside down only from going forward. 701 do make engine mates that can be incorporated with keepers that do stop them from letting go from upside down landings they hook over your bed plates but sit a little higher as to not add vibrations , this is a full bullet proof system then. but I don't run them and still no problems.
some guy that tested them here ran with no keepers or mates and still couldn't break them.

I've broken stock sj mounts, couch mounts and monkey grip mounts. Between learning barrel rolls and flips years previous I hit hard a lot. Not sure which way to go for this year.....prolly let JetManiac tell me what is good;)

I was missing a wb1 mount on a new 1100 build, so along w/ other parts i ordered a monkey grip mount- says they're stronger than oem. Should I be concerned?
