Well that's a little harsh.

I do find movies much more entertaining now that I read less. Back when I read a book a day for several years, every movie was a huge disappointment.

Still pissed about "Battlefield Earth". I read the book several times and couldn't wait for the movie. What a joke!

Movie was @ 2h 25m and you're complaining about stuff getting cut?

Every movie deters from the original books in some way or how. It's the nature of the beast, if you don't like it than never go see a movie hat you've read the book first.

It's a tiring conversation point that no one cares that you read a book.
Dude its a movie BASED ON A BOOK. The more accurate review would be from someone who read the book AND watched the movie. I don't say it braggadocios as if reading is some talent. I just assume people in this world can read. I was warning others who read the book that it's not worth spending 15 bucks to go see it in theaters. I'm sorry that offends you. Hell, I bet just about everything else in this world does too.

Its a tiring conversation when one party responds with completely useless criticism without actually reading the original post. Is that why you are so offended that I said I read the book? Is it because you obviously don't know how to read? If you did you would have seen that I clearly said I was expecting them to change little things from the book like Hollywood always does. It wasn't that they left things out, it was WHAT they left out. I wont ruin that for other people because there is a good chance others on here actually read the book as well. However, his largest struggle in the book, the one that was insurmountable, the most climactic event that took up nearly 1/4 of the book was completely left out. The book was entertaining because the main character was a light hearted, funny, determined, overly intelligent, individual who overcame all odds through sheer determination to survive. Almost none of that came through in the movie. He was borderline depressing, smart but in no way a genius, and it seemed that he just got lucky to survive by just hanging around until NASA could figure out a way to guide him through everything.

Hollywood didn't just tweak some things from the book. They took the synopsis of the book and ran with a movie completely void of EVERY great aspects of the story that made a book so riveting they wanted to make a movie out of it. Obviously they hold as must weight to reading as you do.

It doesn't matter anyway. you have 1200 posts and barely 150 likes? Obviously no one on here wants to hear anything you have to say anyway.

Like OCD said I may have come off a little harsh, and for that I apologize. Didn't mean to direct specifically towards you.

Not offended anyway, just comes from seeing the same theme of everyone holding some high book standard to simple entertainment. It's just not possible to follow a book 100% and most the time it wouldn't translate well anyway to a final product. This is always a given, so there's no need to call it out or complain. Else yes, someone may just being doing it to be bragadociuos.

Then we have this bullpoop. http://variety.com/2015/film/news/the-martian-white-washing-asian-american-ridley-scott-1201614155/

You say the movie isn't worth $15 ticket, but the box office numbers say differently. I've seen it and would say it's entertaining and werth the $. (p.s. I've read the book too)

As for my post count to like ratio, interpret what you'd like.

I didn't read the book, so I can't say it was as good, better or worse, but the movie, on it's own was pretty good.

Also saw Straight out of Compton - really good! Brought me back to my college days when the music was first coming out

And that article on Variety reminds me of some meme I saw on FB that said 'welcome to America, where everyone is butt hurt over something!'

You could have just made your points, which I would have respected but disagreed with. Disagreement doesn't always have to be confrontational. I accept your apology and feel that I should extend one as well. I got a bit carried away and I'm sorry.

Not a movie, but I've started watching Red Oaks on Amazon Prime. It's kind of like Caddy Shack as a television show. Pretty good so far, but the question is how long they can maintain it. I'm on episode 4 of 10 for the first season.

iZOMBIE is a really unique zombie story. I dont even really like zombie movies/shows and my wife has historically HATED them. We are both hooked on this show. Honestly the trailer doesnt do it justice, but its easier to post the trailer than try to explain the storyline. Its on netflix. Watch the first episode.

Finally watched The Imitation Game and McFarland USA. Enjoyed both much more than I expected.

Had high expectations for Pitch Perfect 2 but was a bit disappointed.

Loved Mad Max: Fury Road!

Aloha was a confusing mess. Not once did I feel like I had even the slightest a clue what was going on.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron was decent. Probably my least favorite of the entire franchise to date though.

First time watching a movie in months, we just watched mad max fury road and furious seven. Mad max was pretty good. Furious was over the top as usual, but really kinda hit me in the old heart there. This movie series has been a part of my life since i turned 16, and its a shame that paul walker got killed in that horrible accident. The goodbye part at the end kinda got to me, its just strange to see something in media end on such a sad note.

If growing up means finding the time to sit down to watch pitch perfect 2 without a gun to my head ..... im all set with growing up. Id rather keep my nuts. Id rather clean the yard of dog poop .... using my bare hands than sit through pp2 or pp1 or any of that crap. Hell I'd rather rebuild a salt encrusted seapoo motor.
