Moving 750 starter + lug location.

Does anyone know if you can twist the center section of the kawi 750 starter clockwise more toward the mani?

Not much room in the js hulls.
It's way to close to the pipe for my liking.Should be able to disassemble and rotate slightly I'd think.

Pic explains...

Thanks,
Thomas.

The bracket is that mounts to the motor is part of the starter housing. You cannot rotate the starter unless you get really creative.

Does this answer what you were asking?

Well, I just looked at a spare starter that failed and there is an O ring there where you want to rotate it. My concern would be the wires inside might not want to rotate. I haven't pulled one apart, but I would do some research there and see if its possible. The brush assembly might just rotate around the commutator just fine.

I hope so. Kinda banking on it to make this 650 pjs pipe fit in my 550/650 conversion hull.

You could also try finding an oem Yamaha starter and putting the kawi back cap on to it. The lug seems to be higher on them. I also believe the lug on my 650 motor is higher. I just took it out of my Super Chicken last night, so ill check it out when I get home.

Why don't you yes loosen the bolts and rotate the center section there are no wires on it. Just a metal cylinder with magnets inside

Just to document for anyone who wants to know.... it cannot be rotated without modification to the commutator. There is a timing tab that holds it in place on the back cap, real bummer.

Good news is my brushes are still like new, greased her all up and the aperture got a fresh cleaning:)
