Msd 4270 total loss

Can someone tell me where to get an instruction manual for my MSD total loss system? It is a 4270. Also what what Wouls a toggle switch on the side of the ski do for the total loss? I am very new to this system and it was on a ski that I recently purchased.

Well my question is would it be better installed on a freestyle ski over and MSD enhancer? It has an 8000 RPM limit module and a 2° per 1000 retard module. I can remember where it starts to pull timing at. I'm just guessing that's what all the modules do let me know if I'm wrong.

retard probably starts at 4500 (as it should). An enhancer only gives you about 3 degrees advance, while that is better than stock, it pales to the performance increase with total loss

If it starts at 4500 am I correct in saying that at 2° /1000 puts me at -7° at 8000. Set at 32° it would fall off to 25°. Can someone give me a quick lesson in what an ideal setup would be with what I have or what I might need to get.

32 deg advance is a bit radical. I used to run 28 deg. initial with that unit. Your math is correct. 3 deg./ 1000 plug in modules can be found. These modules have a single resistor inside. You can make them yourself if value known. At high rpm you need to be well below 20 deg

No! You need to start retarding at 4500 regardless of plug in module. Dyno tests have shown that about 16 deg @ 8000 is ideal. 17 or 18 would be fine, after all stock cdi is about 20 deg all the time. Your engine will never reach 8k as long as the impeller is in the water, racers just set the limit that high so they don't loose valuable rpm in chop
