msd coil

brand new msd coil on with advent. spark is breaking up bad! anyone else have that problem with a brand new msd coil?

Don't use MSD coils. They're junk.

Is the problem with the coil windings or is it the carbon wires failing?

don't know yet. haven't ohm tested it yet. sell it? maybe

Yep.... check the resistance and see if there's an open winding in the coil.

I'd be curious to take it apart and see what actually failed.

Personally, I think their carbon wires are junk because they fall apart from vibration internally on the ends.

Buy an OEM Kawasaki SXR coil for $79 bucks (Identical part to SJ coil, which costs over $120), and some boots & terminals.

MSD replacement coils are junk, will make the engine misfire! This is when they came out it took me a few times out at the lake to find what was wrong on our mod blasters and superjets. Stock oem works fine as long as you have a good one.
