Super Jet MSD enhancer has spark but wont start

I got a used MSD enhancer that I installed today and tried to start my ski but it wouldn't fire. I checked for spark and it had spark but it just won't start. I found the install write-up on this site and followed everything and looked up the msd instructions and it looks like I had everything hooked up right. Any ideas on what it could be? If the enhancer is bad will I still get spark? Thanks

A lot of times the MSD's will not fire or have weak spark if the stator is not up to par, it may fire just fine with a stock CDI, the MSD's are a little more picky about incoming AC voltage from the source coil on the stator.

I have spark while I'm cranking and it seems to be at least as strong as stock, if not stronger. I'm not sure what you mean by "is it sparking when I let off the start button". I think it only sparks when I'm holding the start button.

You are observing spark outside of the cylinder and not under compression, the question is is it sparking while under compression, you need to get an inline spark tester
to check this.

just saw this thread, im having a similar issue except i only get spark as i let off the start button, what could that be chriselmore ??

unplug your blk n wht connector before elec box and turn your idle down....test that first...

Could it be that I have the white wires from my msd enhancer mixed up??

It's one of two issues (and neither of them is the switch!)
1. Wires mixed up at the Enhancer
2. MSD Enhancer or stator going out. Try a different stator or a stock CDI.

^^^^ What he said, but I will add:

3. Bad/weak ground to e-box (related to #2 in that the only ground to the box is the black wire in the stator bundle). So run another ground wire from the battery or crankcases to the ebox and see if it sparks/runs.

A stock cdi will often tolerate this poor ground condition but an Enhancer won't.
