MSD enhancer making blaster run worse

What’s up guys I have a 94 701 with a 62t/62t raider motor and coffmans pipe. It’s bone stock except for the pipe and I wanted to get more RPMs because it was just smacking the rev limiter on WOT. I swapped a used MSD enhancer in it and it made it run worse. It feels like there is no bottom end or top end. I felt a significant decrease in top end speed and bottom end punch. Don’t know if the enhancer is bad or the carbs aren’t right or what. It sounds great But feels like there’s a serious amount of power being robbed.

Did you check the rev limiter setting on the MSD? If it has been adjusted to a very low RPM limit you may see a significant reduction in top speed.

Do you know the position of your stator marks (how is the stator lined up in the front cover)?

I did not check the RPM setting since it came off a blaster with similar mods. It’s weird because I always felt like the blaster it came off of was not running as well as it could.

Sounds like it’s defective, it’s shouldn’t have caused any of that if it was good...

Swap your old cdi back In and retest

I would suggest verifying where the RPM limiter is set on the MSD and verifying your stator timing before anything else. Don't advance the stator without knowing what is actually going on.

Sounds like it’s defective, it’s shouldn’t have caused any of that if it was good...

Swap your old cdi back In and retest

Runs great with the OEM CDI but it hits the rev limiter way too soon

I have heard of instances where the enhancer was found to be a bit picky with a weak stator. Put in a stock cdi and ski will run amazing..

A properly functioning enhancer would not cause these symptoms

Going to buy a brand new enhancer and see what happens. So fun taking the electrical box out with a coffmans pipe
