96 superjet 62t/62t b pipe, girdled head, v force reeds, stock carbs, flywheel, stator, coil and e box.
Pick up a modded stock cdi. There's a guy that mods them to 8100 rpm. Can be had for 100$ or less, or find a protec modded one.
If you are really after all the throttle response possible, a zeeltronic setup is the ticket(programmable) but that's expensive like an enhancer.

Yeah I’ll have to check those out! Thank you for the advice

The stock CDI actually has a wider timing curve, and is MUCH better than the MSD. Just advance your timing at the plate 2-3 degrees or so, and you are good to go. If you need a higher rev limit, like said above you can get your OE modified. The OE is much more reliable.

I went from a total loss that died to an enhancer that died to a stock cdi with no rev limit and didn't really notice anything on a maxed out ported 701 bored over 2mm. Still flipped n rolled in my fake rickter. Msd no longer tests total loss or any other brains and they can't be repaired. I gave one to senor to cut open and fix and he said no way to get in there after it's podded. Nick at carbon tech said he thought an enhancer might get you a hair more bottom end throttle response.

MSD knew what they were doing when it came to protecting future sales. I have soaked one in methylene chloride to melt away the exterior. The material is almost as resilient as it’s electrical components. There is no way to get to the electronics without also destroying them. OEM boxes are easy to modify for a higher rev limit. The timing does not retard at high rpm so make sure it’s not over propped and open the top carb screws to the rich side of peak rpm.

I’ve dealt with similar issues before, and if swapping to a stock setup got you spark back, it’s likely something in the MSD enhancer itself. I'd start by checking all the wiring and connections—sometimes it's just a loose wire or a bad ground. If that doesn't help, I'd recommend reaching out to MSD or looking for a local shop that can test or repair it. I’ve had luck with DIY fixes on other ignition modules, but for something like this, it's probably safer to send it in if you're not too comfortable digging into it yourself.

My Zeel has lasted longer than any other of my aftermarket cdi's.
