msd question

went to put in msd enhancer today and i ran into a little problem...
all the wires match up except a black wire which has a groud attached to it from the stator..have no clue where it goes.
will it work with just the ground? with the male connector attached to nothing?

are you sure its not the brownish/gray wire that goes to ( I don't know exactly what you call it) but it is some kind of meter reader
so that you can hook the msd to some device and get readings from it
I have never seen the device just read about it
are you sure its not that wire??????

Can you post a pic? I don't think you have it hooked up right. I installed mine tonight and everything went well. :veryhappy:

Yeah you cant really screw up the installation of a MSD, you just follow the instructions. Not hard. Post pics

does that picture look better on your machine?

did you take it with your phone?

try more light there, and see if its any better, maybe try holding it still?

the few msds I have installed have been very simple with no left over wires.

any black wire was terminated with a ring and went under a screw ( a few were like this)

msd

i compared with my 650 e box..
the pink and black line for the overheat sensor is different.
on this e box the black wire coming from the overheat sensor has just a ring for the ground.
where on the 650 it has a ring then plugs into the wire i have there..

sorry if this is hard to understand but thankss

Did you get this working?

If not, could you re-state the question - I don't understand what you mean in your original post about a black wire having a ground attached to it.

Are you asking where the black wire from the stator connects to?

I haven't installed my MSD yet, but in a stock configuration the black comes in from the stator, attaches a ring to the post by the CDI, then the same wire extends to connect to the CDI's black female connector.
