Msd tl issue lost spark. What next ?

Came back from Tona after ski ran perfect. Li fe Battery was dead. Bilge was disconnected for trip. Should have disconnected ground from batt. Oh well. Anyway. Put standard battery charger on life batt on 20 amps for 5 sec to bring it back to 12 volts then switched to icharger and fully charged batt. Tried to restart ski. Ign has lost spark. It is setup with a shifty module. Ign could have possibly been turned accidentally on? When moved onto trailer. I wasn’t there to know. Possible that charger could fry ign? Water in front cover? Ign and coils in dry box Havnt had time to take anything apart to diagnose

msd is very simple to diagnosis, assuming you understand how it works.
Check main fuse/power getting threw it.
Turn on shifty mod. and test channel 1 and 2, LED should flash and you should have spark. Either jump the channels with a paper clip/connect/unconnect or use a spare pickup/plug it in and swipe a magnet across it.
The manual also goes into detail how to do some tests.

I’ve not messed with it in years. Few challenges are it’s in a dry box in back behind rrp exh manifold. Have to remove engine to get it out. Led hasn’t worked in years on msd. Don’t have Manual I’d have to download it. Paper clip jump sounds like a good place to start in case it’s issue in front cover. Which pins do u jump for Chan 1 and 2. Think it possible just putting a batt charger on it would fry fuse or ign module ?

If your main power (red) was fused odds are you didn’t cook your unit, just popped your 7.5/10A fuse. I’ve accidentally let mine on for a day, charged it on high amp, and never cooked it and ran it for eons after.
You need to pull the 6 wire (2 orange, 2 yellow, 2 brown) connector apart. I believe yellow and brown are channels one and two (you won’t hurt anything by jumping a non used channel). Use a small wire to jump between two of the same color (female pin side).
You’ll obviously want to lay Your plugs out to watch for spark and have the ign on.
Another easy check is to unplug the kill switch side of your stop/start. I forget if it’s the black or white connector but you’ll be able to crank the motor still and if you have spark with it dissconnected you’ve found your issue.
I had that problem a few times from water intrusion in my plugs. Good luck!

I also have a printed manual I can send you pics of if you’d like

Good to know you charged at high amp and didn’t hurt msd. I have start stop hard wired so I’d have to pull box for that or cut wires.

Test the pins before you touch the stop start wires, that will rule out your pickups etc.
if that doesn’t work I’d cut the black and white wires (I believe that pair is the kill switch side) and retest.
That’s about all you can do outside of the box besides spark plug wires….
I know the brain boxes got a bad rep for reliability but I’ve never had a box actually burn up on me yet.. and they’re old old :)
