Freestyle MSD TL Water Proof Enclosure on a Budget

Might look to take my ski on the salty stuff this year so needed to box the MSD following a failed brain.

Wanted the Power Factor MSD box - but not the $2k price tag - here's what I came up with, thought I'd share to help out other members:

Sheet of 1/4 sheet of perspex $8
IP68 Glands x8 $15
Kevlar Matt/resin (optional) $15
Enclosure 'Lock & Lock' air and watertight box $10
Bullet connectors/solder/heat shrink $20

Total $68 - plus build time

I've tested the box under water for 8hrs and its totally watertight..

Good question - 3M5200 the box onto a 1/4 plastic sheet which is bolted through the firewall in the regular locations.

any reason why you didnt use an IP rated box Jim, mine was about £25 from CPC

Used one of those on my last ski, it was ok but a little brittle and a pain to open the front cover. The covers off this in 4 seconds flat!

excellent idea. I have considered a Pelican case as a good optoin also.
