Hey - I’m getting ready to test fire my ski with it’s new TL but just remembered IDK which coil is which. The directions label them Coil a and b but make no mention of which goes to which cylinder. Is it safe to assume coil A is the front cylinder? The directions for this thing suck. It literally doesn’t even include a dip switch chart. The only place it seems to exist is on this forum!

Just pull the spark plugs, hook the coil wires to each one and set them near the spark plug hole while making sure they're in contact with metal to ground them. Put your phone in slow mo video mode and then hold the start button for a couple seconds. You'll be able to watch the video and determine which one is right when you see if it sparks just before TDC or after.

Couldn't you do as you say above but turn coupler by hand with lanyard in until each plug sparks?

Turn on switch 4 of switch bank 3 (bank on left) to turn on your LED test mode and every time the magnet passes over a pick up it will blink the led. If it’s firing just before top dead center you are set, it it’s blinking at bottom of stroke you are 180 off. It is a mode for doing exactly what you are trying to do.

If you still can’t figure it out and crank it over and backfires you know right away you are 180 off

For anyone who stumbles on this in the future, my suspicion was correct. Coil A is front cylinder (brown wire on MSD) and Coil B is rear (yellow wire)

Also be advised you can test spark channels using a jumper wire on the brain pickup connector, touching yellow to yellow or brown to brown with lanyard in and brain powered on. I did this recently to confirm an intermittent working pickup/spark. Secure your pickup wires with heavy silicone near the pickup or they will break from hard landings.Screenshot_20191108-192500_Gallery.jpg
