Blaster Msd wiring help? faulty ignition???

Hi i brought a second hand ignition for my blaster 1. i swapped the wires over and im 80% sure iv done it correctly.

Pink to pink, white to white, white male connector to white with red stripe, brown to brown with white stripe, orange to orange, black to black,

iv split the red wire on the blaster next to where the fuse goes and put the red wire from the msd with both male and female connectors in to connect it back up if that makes sense? Theres 2 places where this could go i think. Dont know if it would make a difference?

And iv put the earth where the other earths go.

When i try and start it it fires and back fires but doesnt run.

Have i done anything wrong or is it just a faulty ignition? I brought it from someone who said its not been tested and gave me no gaurantees it would work i just thought it would.

Also i havent played around with the adjusting screw on top. Dont know if that will make any difference?

Thanks bud! Just looked at that it doesn't look like iv done anything wrong I'll have another look and make sure all the connections are clean. And make sure iv got that red wire on there right. Do these often mess up?

Iv connected the ignition and this is what happens. Iv checked all the wires are all correctly installed so i guess it must be a dodgy ignition. Oh dear

Well it was workin before I put the msd in there on the stock ignition so that's the only thing that's changed. I didn't check any of that stuff because I thought it must just be the msd. I'll take a look tomorrow just to be sure. I int got a good feelin about it tho! Think iv been sold a duffer!

one red wire connects after the fuse and the other should connect to the voltage regulator (red wire). make sure all your ground are good. pull out the spark plugs and see if there is any spark when turning over
looking at the unit, it does look like their is some corrosion . Sometimes, it gets in the unit by the rev limiter adjustment screw

yea i think im goin to have to cut my losses. Iv got the red wire connected to the fuse 1 side and the round thing the other.... the round thing i take it is the voltage regulator? With the 2 thick red wires going to it and the 2 nuts holding them on?

Yup, I agree, try swapping the white wires. The MSD comes new with a small white jumper that converts a male to a female connector so it fits in multiple skis but it makes it confusing when making the connections, especially if the seller doesn't send you the jumper. The really should have marked the wires better.

If you need the adapter and can't find or make one, PM me your address and I can mail you one. Postage to the UK shoukld be relativelly fast and cheap for such a small item?

I think its duff! I'll try and swap the White wires see if it fires. But I would need 2 jumper cables because it will be 2 males and 2 females together I think..

I have had a some similar issue like this before but mine ended up being the stator was bad but my 2 cents if it helps explain some things that jumper is needed since the stators are differant from a 61x and a 62T and yamaha switched the ends so you could only put a 61x cdi with a 61x stator same thing for a 62T. though the stators are differant the enhancer will work with both hench why they give you the jumper. also the pink wire is for the over heat sensor its not really needed id try disconnecting it also while testing oh and check your ground wire to your engine they can sometimes corroded from the inside out.

615 Freeriders are addicted to T1 madness.
the enhancers are more likely to show faults that were in your system previously. They are less tolerant to minor issues in the stator or wiring than OEM cdi is.
Does it spark only when you first hit the start button and when you let off the start button or does it never spark at all?

well iv tried and tried but its definatly faulty. The bloke i brought it from has aggreed to give me a refund so its all good! Thanks for all your help
