I meant that question to be for the original poster or are you also having the same issue Corey? I've seen the shift mod intermittently latch closed which simulates holding down the Start button and makes you think the noid is the problem as the symptoms are the same, release of amperage to the start circuit. You can unhook the purple wire and ground it and it will kill a stuck shifty. Maybe something to investigate

Well mine was differently the starter relay. Pulled it from the circuit and ohmed it out. Gently slammed it on the table and it opened.IMG_5654.JPG

From MSD

Once we receive the RMA it is 5-7 Business days to test and repair the units. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
Thank you,

Think I will probably just throw it in the garbage and chalk it up as a loss.

If it is the shifty mod that is stuck when you put a new relay in should it have the same symptoms of trying to start on its own or would it act normal for a bit and happen again? I am ordering an extra relay and wondering about another shifty module too for an extra

From my understanding the shift mod is 2 small relays that allow you to turn the ignition on and off from the start switch. has nothing to do with the starter. I could be wrong.

This is accurate, @justjoe sent me this picture the other day.

Replaced mine, hopefully it never sticks again.

What are the little caps on the starter and battery connections? Are these actually necessary?

Had the same thing happen to a brand new MSD relay. What a POS, chinese crap.

I slammed mine on the table and it opened up. But you probably don't want to do that (fix it) because you might be able to return it. Got my sea doo starter relay in, tried turning it over multiple time to make sure it wasn't a sticker. Works great and I have confidence in it.

Shifty module: 2 relays. One relay powers on the brain when lanyard is in, the other relay cuts power when stop button is hit.

The shifty module is actually only one relay.
I had one that failed after 15 isn hours. I took it apart.
Think im gonna do my own.

Do you have a pic or sketch For one relay? That’s easier for sure, we made one as drawn above a long time ago and it worked.
