My big ol' rack!

So I was faced with the dilemma :scratchchin: of either towing a trailer on the long drive from Ketchikan, AK to southern California or... build a TNT Kustomz style solution to my problem. With my vehicle being an 01' Ford Ranger which I love deeply "in a non-weird way" I had to come up with a good solution to haul my freeride SN SJ and my stock class sxr, because I need both on my trip for riding and racing. Also with a bumpin stereo and frickin-wicked-ri-donculous air horn, clearly, finding a fullsize truck was not an option!

Step 1 was making the truck handle the weight, so with an airbag system from Firestone I got my truck riding azz high in no time, and able to take on 700lbs no prob with only 25psi of air, I can pump up the bags to 100psi but the truck is so light I would never need that.

The next step was getting a platform built out of all aluminum and worthy of my trek, then how to incorporate my beach cart into the mix as the loading ramp, then how to put a winch on this biotch cause JFB told me not to lift skis : )

so a little bit of thinking and this is what I came up with, I hope my dad doesn't mind the aluminum mess, cause im tired and need to go to bed. All the welding was mig wire fed spool gun.

I will pull both skis out and update pics of the rack, but both skis are quick pinned at the bow and ski-keepered at the stern, The rollers are Polaris snowmobile boggie wheels and the beach cart is one I made for Surf Slam last year. The truck still handles well and can cruise 70 no prob, and oh ya stop just fine too. With this spread I can load and unload both skis by myself and pack my 10lbs of s**t in my 5lbs box..... so here we are what do ya thunk!?:bananajump:

GOOD Job bro!
I am dissing the trailer too.
This is how I roll now but I am also in the process of building a Ramp to hold to skis like yourself, not aluminum but treated wood instead. I will post detailed Pics when I am done with it. It is a major plus when you can drive faster on the Freeway.

And that stainless looking toolbox, and lathe, and storage bin?

Might wanna get your glasses checked out again. :bigok: There's no stainless looking toolbox or lathe in the pics...

Anyways, looks like the original owner took a regular folding ramp and attached rollers. That's an idea I'm gonna look into further.

In Tanman's pic there is. I quoted you and knew you would think I was talking about Kraqus's pic. Thats why I deleted the post. THank, but go look again.

OIC. I replied with quote before deletion. Oddly enough, your post was still visible to me after submitting the reply.

I didn't quote him in my post, so not sure why you would reference his pics without notating such...
