My brand new GoPro is a no go anymo

Location
Idaho
First time using my new wide GoPro today. Landed on the side and this is what I came to find. It is now filming the bottom of Apache Lake. It sucks for I did my first nose stab today and it was recorded. I would watch out on these plastic mounts. The slide lock was still in but it busted the adjustable mount right off. Also if I do get another I will glue something on the back of the case so that it will float.

ive got an oregon sci cam at the bottom of the jones inlet.

i want to buy the gopro this summer. mine will have a floaty of some sort attached to it, or a tether. not losing another one to the bottom of the ocean.

Before I left today I thought about a tether of some kind but then I thought about those Oside crew boys and theirs has held so I thought I would be ok.

Need to tether for sure. Should have used the suction cup mount.

The suction cup mount would not have mattered. Even if the suction held, the plastic mount between the suction and water case is what snapped. I was actually pretty impressed that the 3M adhesive pad and base mount is still on my ski. I would have thought that would be the first to go.

i use the olympus 790sw , always tether and also have a float attachment. it mounts to the front of my helmet and i can see the screen on the back of it to know what i am filming

take a old lanyard cut it up and attach one side to your camera and other to your hood/dash....you will be surprised but it will dangle there after the mounts broke off !

Can you guys post some pics of your setups? Also, I have noticed that the GoPro has a tendency (when I use it) to flop around if I sub or hit the water hard- do you guys just torque those screw mounts down real tight or do you guys just glue that camera to the bracket? I can't wait to get my wide angle GP-I have a tether so I'll definitely be keeping it secure!

chris's i believe was set up next to the stock nose piece for his angle. regular 3m stick mount tethered to the nose piece id assume. Mark is not going to show his mount. why? well you can see how sick of an angle it is, hes not just going to give up that secret.:highhorse: you just gotta torq it with a screwdriver and re torq it when its wet and it shouldn't move.

hope that helps and get some footage!

After watching Chris and Mark's video, I swear in a few different spots you can see the tether flapping in front of the lens.... I'm pretty sure they use tethers.... I know I will when I get one.
