I would fill in the area where you cut out around the stern hole... man you want that pad it up good there, trust me...

mine is like this:

just cut a slit where the hole is at and slide the rope through at a 90 degree angle out the back... it works good and you get to keep the kicktail, not to mention you will have padding where you need it bad

You know I suggested that to the last guy I turfed for and he didn't want it. I'm planning on doing it with my next ski too, but I must've had a brain fart Saturday when we cut out for Jeff's stern eye. Sorry :banghead: We can patch a piece in if you want. I think you'll be fine either way.

Is that hole right in front of the 90deg bend or is it cut in the up-down part of the lip? If you suggest on the lip, anyone think that might be an awkward angle of pull for a non-reinforced transom lip?

fyi - it's in the original stern hole, just routed through the padding out the rear...

just do the padding and turf, then make a hole through the rear of the pad up to where the hole would normally go through the pad/turf and then stick your finger up through the hole and clear enough room to feed the rope through

that is my rear loop holding my ski.... he he he

Do you have any problems with turf pulling up around the rope?

nope.... no problems... use a thick rope to fill the hole good.. that way you won't have water spashing up through there... hell, put a piece of duct tape under there if you are concerened...

Haven't made much progress lately but I did get the other side turfed. I also replaced a lot of the rusty hardware and got the flush kit installed. Its now legit as I've got the new registration numbers on it.

Beachjunkey came over and tried to buff out some of the discoloration but no dice. No big deal, it just would have looked a little better.

I went to Walmart to check out the attwood s500 bilge pump. Is it me or is that thing huge?

It does look like a big turd.

You are slower at turfing than me :hitwithrock: I never realized how much I use my heat gun and how much my hair dryer sucks until this past week. I gave up on Dave's ski last night but my arm rest turned out okay

Yeah anyone got any tips for cleaning up the yellow in his gelcoat? You can't see it in the pics but there is a very noticeable difference between the hull and the hood and where stickers were on the hull. I tried two different swirl remover rubbing compounds and a waffle-type foam pad on a high speed polisher/grinder. It may have cleaned it up about 5% but that's it. It worked wonders on my parents' seadoo's:

masterblaster brought me over some coarser rubbing compound I still need to give a shot...

S'all good. David got one to finish up with today and I'm good for the next couple days at least. Your boy Convict is looking for some turf help but I told him you got the hookup

I haven't had much time to work on my ski much because of the jobs I've been working on. So, I decided to institute what some might call a work exchange program.

Beachjunkey finished up the turf, glassed a crack in the hood, and modded the stock hood a little. I'll get pics of the hood later.

Fathom then went to work and trimmed in the turf and detailed the motor like only he knows how. Joel also tightened up the steering and took care of a couple other details.
