It's probably more hassle than it's worth now but you can fight it if you want to put in the effort. The problem is you made direct contact with the manufacturer. So now they put the burden of proof on you.
Instead of the dealer you bought from taking the cable back ordering another for you, and emailing an RMA request for the defective product, they now see it as collusion they can just dismiss and the dealer will side with them for the business.
Your only chance is asking the dealer to find the po and match up the part packaging and any numbers on the part.
