My experience with sbt

So the first time I buy a part from sbt. The service was not what I expected. Now adays I have come to expect sub par service from most company's so when my new crank arrived and was missing a weld on the connecting rod pin I was terrified of what it was going to take to sort out a new crank.
I called sbt and wa promptly transferred to Caesar in the warranty department and was asked to send pictures. After reviewing the pictures they gave me a claim number and asked to ship the crank back.
He then asked if I needed any more parts and a replied saying I could use a seat cover for my wife's wave runner. He asked what colours and said it would be free of charge.
My starter relay failed last ride so I emailed ceasar asking if he could add one to the shipment and I would call in my credit card number to save on shipping and he said not to bother he woul add one free of charge for my troubles.
All I can say is these guys have gone above and beyond by answering emails within hours and overcompensating with free stuff. I would recommend them over and over.
A big thanks to the team at sbt

I will be getting a crank from them on my next motor build. I love how they always feed us at Daytona! They clearly have some love for us stand up riders.

I may get a new starter from them soon too....just as a spare to my spare.

all ive heard is people bash them, but ive only seen good things from them. nice to see a positive side of things and that really is going above and beyond!

I am fairly new to this sport. But with 3 skis bought in one year. They will definetly be getting more of my money.
I wish they sold performance parts.

I know someone who put a motor in his SJ it lasted him 3+ years of heavy riding on the river them he sold the ski and it still made even compression.

I ordered a crank from them and it arrived with a big chip in one of the bearing races. I called, sent them pictures, and a brand new crank was at my door a week later. They know how to run a business for sure. Im just worried about running the crank now after hearing everyones horror stories...

I've ran their crank in my engine for a while! It ain't a horror, you just know it won't last as long as OEM.

Ya my thoughts exactly. I figure if you tare down the top end at the end of every season and check things out it won't end catastrophic.
But that's the same for any brand of crank.
And really the only difference is bearing quality. So the difference is maybe one extra season out of a Oem crank for three times the price.

I always hear people say their engines are junk.... What i can tell you is i've used them for 8-9 years now, Ive had 3 engine failures out of hundreds! 1 front seal fail, another cases leaked right off the bad from a weld done on them, and I don't remember what the 3rd was. I also had issues on carb kits which they replaced and fixed the issues i found, and starters that they know they had a vendor issue with... That sounds like a lot but when you do the volume I do, and have so very few issues and they always are ready to fix it. I keep using them. I think most of the engine or parts issues are just the person who installed them not doing it correctly. Caesar has always taken good car of me even being a small shop. and they ship FAST!
