Super Jet My first jet skis, I need some advice!

Brought home two superjets a few days ago!
one is a 1990 650 6m6 bottom with 701 bones head, and the other a 2010 701 that has too much to list, ill tell you its got a b pipe lol.
Both have quite a few of the mods done, set up for freestyle/surf and have reinforcement.

Im pulling the 1990's engine today to replace its midshaft and rebuild the housing.
My question is, what should I be doing while I have the engine out?
I have plenty of time on my hands and love tinkering with my toys to get them to my version of perfection.

Also while cleaning out the engine bay I think I may have accidently sprayed a small amount of water through the aftermarket air pod filter and into the carb throat. Not much but enough for me to question if that is alright for these engines or if I should be dissembling it and cleaning it out.

Yup, already hit him up as many of the parts on the skis are from him. :)
The 650 is my tinker toy/buddy ski, Im just cleaning it up.
I am learning alot about these engines from taking apart the 650 though which is knowledge I can apply towards most superjets.
The 701 is fuggin sick and has everything done to it already, nothing much for me to tinker with :p

I got the water out by just turning the engine on its side towards the carb and opening the carb again, about a 1/4 -1/2 cup of water flowed back out.
