My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

I had a few days off and was able to wrap some things up while hiding from the nasty weather.

After looking at LOTS of pictures and consulting with @Quinc , I realized that I had my ebox wiring mixed up and had the starter/battery cables reversed. I went to add power for my bilge pumps and realized that the small red wire with bullet connector was coming from what i originally thought was the starter side... the box is from a raider, and apparently they are run upside down compared to a SJ... I originally had the battery/starter wires coming out of the bottom of the ebox... I swapped in the correct length battery cables so that I could run the ebox in the standard SJ orientation which actually works out better because it's much cleaner with all the wiring tucked along the right side of the ski and directly into the ebox instead of having to pass behind the rear of the engine above the coupler cover...

I will have to post a pic of the cleaned up ebox with bilge wiring added as I would love some input on how I did... I ordered some Recon marine fuse holders and as soon as they arrived I realized they would only fit inside the ebox and would not be removable through the cap like the oem fuse... I then started pondering if it would even be possible to fit a second oem style fuse and still be able to remove both.... I messed up and ordered a "next-day" marine inline fuse shipped to my work instead of my home and since my office is closed on saturdays, it got bumped out till after the new year. I had everything buttoned up except fusing the positive wire, so I decided to just use the original Recon fuse holder and I poked two holes in the temp-sensor grommet that I re-used for the bilge switch wires (using the oem temp-sensor wires as well). The fuse is accessible without having to open the ebox. With the OCD bilge kit is one able to fit/remove two barrel fuses? i may go that route if I build a msd box in the future...

Anyway, here is some current pix of the engine bay... I'm bummed that my epoxy bilge paint changed colors in the can so the scratches i touched up are now beige lol... it isn't visible when the tank is installed though, so only WE know about it ;)

Do people run worm gear clamps on their bilge hoses, or are zip ties adequate?

Pump area is complete - steering grommet nut tightened, trim seal zip-tied, dual cooling lines installed and clamped, errything 242'd.... I ended up just painting the ride plate white - I'll spend the time to powdercoat it if it's the plate I end up running.

All I need now is my replacement header to show up, and then i can install it, the chamber, the waterlines, the tank+batt, and then first fire up!

It's been another week. You done yet?! :D
lol nope.... Still waiting for my header! Tracking says " USPS CURRENTLY AWAITING PACKAGE - A status update is not yet available for your package. It will be available when the shipper provides an update or the package is delivered to USPS. Check back soon." so I'm guessing it is still in a container on a ship somewhere... it was shipped on 12/5, so no idea when it will arrive, but hopefully soon so i can wrap this thing up and then brap this thing up!

When is the maiden voyage?
You gonna supervise and help tune? lol i don't know what I'm doing!!!

Is it warm in Chico yet? It's in the 60's in the Bay but the delta water is probably pretty cold right now. I still have a full wetsuit from 2012 when I lived in so-cal and was getting into surfing and I also recently bought a rider john, helmet/gloves/shoes.. i still need a better life jacket though because all I have is mine from my boat which is a bit bulky, but I probably could get in the water whenever.

Still a small amount of details to wrap up, but basically ready to go!

There are people riding Camp Far west every weekend. I would be happy to help ya tune and ride her. Be warm enough for me come March. Just need a week of 70+ degree days and the water will be decent with a spring suit and booties. Get some 3-4mm booties to wear under your shoes and it makes all the difference.

It's been a month and half. You pop her cherry yet?! :D
lol not yet, but hopefully this week and/or weekend! I got some @TurfSaverz last week, and my retractable stainless ratchet straps are out for delivery today, so I'm almost dialed in for hitch hauling. If I get out of work on time I'm going to try to be at the Pittsburg marina for Wet Wednesday.. It will be a few weeks before I can get to CFW/lakes etc. due to being busy with family visiting, traveling for work, and a tattoo appointment in late April... but May should be lots of fun in the sun!

I still haven't gotten this thing in the water yet... Turns out loading it onto my hitch hauler is harder than I expected. My truck is lifted 6" on 35's and my garage cart is not nearly tall enough for that combo to begin with, so when I back my truck up my sloped driveway the distance between the cart and hauler bunks is even greater (I really don't want to roll the ski up/down my driveway to load it and leaving my rear tires in the gutter didn't bring the hauler down enough anyway... I debated weather to modify one of my carts with either risers or bigger casters, but then I started to think about field loading/unloading onto a beach cart and at the boat ramp. I ended up ordering a Gen-Y receiver drop which should hopefully allow me to solo load/unload at default cart height and also it wont require me to back quite so far into the water when loading/unloading at the marina. It's warmer this week and the receiver should be here by Wednesday, so hopefully I get to test it out this week.

This is my favorite build. I may be biased due to the fact that my heart may or may not be powder coated neon yellow.
I would say the same thing except I call it green. Funny thing is that chartreuse is the absolute middle of green and yellow. That aside this is BadA$$ and making me want to build one. So smooth and clean!!

Wait till you see my all-matching Jet Pilot gear lol - "Ultimate Poser" achievement unlocked!

Pix and first ride report coming later when i'm not so busy at work...

Spoiler: MAIDEN VOYAGE COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!!!
