Other my foothold popped out!

100_0751.jpg100_0746.jpgi was planning on getting new turf so i peeled back an unglued part of my turf and saw that my foothold popped out it appears. the top part came unattached from the side of the tray. what should i put it back on with? i have 5200 but it sounds sketchy like a future problem. It looks like they were not installed properly. They should have been held in by rivets or screws, and glassed over along the edges. It'd be best to take it out and check for wet foam before going any farther.

ya i didnt install these the guy i got it from did and he said it was a "professional" install. i updated the pics with markings. my ski doesnt feel heavy at all. i was subbung though but not any serious subs.

yes you can get it from west marine. get the fast hardner, if your 13 have your dad help you.

should i get some fiberglass cloth too? i was thinking to put stainless screws in the top part of the foothold where it came out and then put the epoxy resin and hardener on. while im at it im gonna do the other hold too. thanks for all the help guys

When you buy the west systems from west marine, look on the isle they usually have a free instructional video/dvd that goes with two parts. If not just search west systems on youtube and the same videos are all over the place.

With a newer ski like that you may as well just pull both of the footholds out and take a close look. Make sure is dry, Great time to do a "professional install". Sometimes you end up with the lazy guy or newbie install. Alot of threads on here and videos on youtube all over with mucho mucho info. Take the time that is needed to do it right.

what can i take the footholds out with to make sure the foam is dry? after i take them out do i use stainless screws or rivets to put them back in place an then epoxy them? is that it or is fiberglass needed to?

if it were me. i wouldnt even worry about the foam. unless its literally spewing water out, its kind of an overrated thing to do IMO especially if i was 13 and just wanted to ride my jetski. just rivet the holds to the ski, use glass to bond the foothold to the hull, turf it, have a killer summer.

you just read my mind... so my plan is to get the west systems epoxy resin some fast hardener and some 404 filler and some fiberglass cloth. here is my process correct me if im wrong.
1. rivet or screw footholds back in
2. mix the epoxy resin and hardener with the 404 filler to a peanut butter consistency
3. spread it on the edges of the footholds on sides and bottom part of the footholds/tray
4. apply glass cloth on top of the epoxy resin.
5. let dry/cure over night
6. turf
7.BRAAAAP! hi zack its cool how im talking to a pro rider on this forum...
