SXR My inexpensive ($13) one-way hull drain - pictures

After always using rubber duck bill drains on everything we've ever owned, I wanted to try something different (read:better) for my SXR.

I liked the new ball drain one-way that seems all the rage now, but couldn't see spending (read:I'm cheap) that much for one. :shhh:

Came across one for a boat application, that's pretty much the same exact concept.
Install was simple (see pictures), and for those worried when leaving their skis tied up in the water, it comes with a screw in plug.
Made by SeaSence and come's in other diameters.

The original holes were just a tad off, so I rotated the new drain, drilled pilot holes, 5200'd the backside and screwed it on using the original screws.

Enough talkin', here's the pictures.............:bananapowerslide:

We will be running bouy's this Saturday.

If all goes well with it, I'll be ordering up a bunch for the other ski's.

Maybe someone could work up a Group Buy even?

i guess what im asking is....do you have a pvc tube attached to the inside end of this valve running up to the engine compartment? or do you have a hole drilled that only goes to the inside of the tray?

The SXR already come's with a plastic drain/plug. When I removed it, you could see all the way to the engine compartment.

All I did was replace the original drain plug assy., with what I explained above.

Sorry if I'm still not understanding your question..

Cool!
These are very similar to the $50 verisplug R.

I wish you would have taken a pic of the backside of the Seasense once before install. How deep does it go into the hull?

I'll go ahead and order one, it will only be a matter of time before my screw-in versiplug breaks off.
$17 shipped on eBay. Maybe they can combine shipping when you buy more than one...

The difference between these and the versiplug r's is this cannot be used to drain a tray area. Like if your running poly foam under your tray and you need to drain the water from your tray these wont work because they are recessed. The versiplugs will work for that purpose since the whole assembly is on the outside. These will work great from a tube from the engine bay though.

Eh, I disagree. If you made provisions for the recessed portion during a build, you could make this plug work pretty easily. I'd probably mount it 60* from where Chris did so one of the screws were facing downward and shave down the lower portion of the flange to form a V and get the thing as low as possible. You may not get every single oz of water, but it will work pretty well for what most of us need.

CANNIBAL - when I test fit one to my HX, it would have to be modded, the sea sence flange, like you just suggested. One good thing though, the bottom of the drain hole in the hull is flush with the inside portion of the hull.

The SXR on the other hand, the bottom of the drain hole was at least a 1/4" above the inside portion of the hull. Maybe in the winter when I pull this thing apart, Ill do like you suggested. :scratchchin:

UPDATE : Tested today and worked great.
Very rough/choppy conditions, had the ski floating in the water, none ever backed up into the hull. I'll be ordering more soon.

i'm using stock seadoo drain plugs in my fx1 with tube to the tray . Same concept as the sea sense one this but wayyyy uglier ....
the only plus is that the screw plug stay attached to the system.

do you have a pic of the back of the drain ?
