I've been meaning to share my experience since I got back and finally have a moment.
2 months ago, the girlfriend comes to me and says she wants to run the half marathon at Disney, which at that time was about one month away. I think to myself hmmm, wonder if we can visit XScream to check out there new motors/packages and possibly buy/purchase and Superfreak Hulls to pick up my hull I had on order. Contact them both, and both more then willing to accommodate. Awesome - road trip it is! The plan was:
Friday XScream
Saturday Superfreak Hulls
Sunday Melinda's Disney Princess Marathon
The trip could not have gone any more perfect.
Friday, showed up at XScream Inc. around noon, toured the shop, checked out all the latest projects going on, and met some of the behind the scenes people I had never met before. One of the nicest groups around. My head was spinning walking through the shop seeing all the motors/parts and production going on. VERY NICE shop - I didn't want to leave. After spending about 45 minutes there, we all packed up and headed to the lake where we spent all afternoon.
I was given the opportunity to demo 3 - 1200 packages: Jason Stoyers Pump Gas Machine (I felt most comfortable on this ski), Pat Bogarts Race Gas Machine (this thing is just plain scary... crazy amounts of power to handle), and a customers Pump Gas machine. All of them setup in there Kong hulls. I LOVED the way the Kong handled in every aspect. They have done a lot of out the box thinking on it when you get down to the small / nitty gritty details of it. The overall finish is one of the best I have ever seen. I told them, they need to get MANY more details and pictures on there site as what they have on there now does NOT do it justice. I wanted to buy one on the spot and probably would have if I had not already had deposit down on a Superfreak Hull. The drive trains in them were just plain incredible. Never skipped a beat and gave me the workout of a life time. The height Pat and Jason get on there rolls and flips is just plain crazy. I'd like to consider myself pretty in shape, but holy crap after a few minutes of riding, my forearm pump was so bad I had a hard time hanging on and using the finger throttle. Needless to say, many breaks for me!
The best part though was just hanging out all afternoon on the water getting some sun - that was priceless. They are by far the most knowledgeable and passionate company/group of people I have personally dealt with, not to mention just plain cool to hang and BS with. We were all cracking jokes and picking on one another, even the girlfriend and she was dishing it right back. I am a customer for life.
Back in 2009, I had the chance to ride Pat's competition ski (Thunder Pumpkin) at the world finals, but could NOT stay in the footholds cause of the thicker soled shoes I was wearing. Same thing this year - I showed up, couldn't stay locked in. Pat said "ya Roo, I figured this might happen again so I brought an extra paid of wrestling shoes for ya' ". Kinda funny, but how cool is that that he remembered and was prepared for me? lol
Saturday, headed North to visit Superfreak Hulls (Tem) and pick up my hull. For those of you that do not know Tem or Nancy, they are probably two of the nicest/kindest people in the world. Pulled up to there place and Nancy (Tem's wife) was there at the driveway to greet us. Tem came out, helped load up the hull, gave us a tour of the shop, and showed us some cool new stuff he had been working on. Hung out for about an hour or so and off we were. This is my second Superfreak Hull. This time I went another 5" shorter for around a grand total of almost -10", and a bigger handle pole bracket area so I can run a conventional style bracket.
Sunday, watched Melinda kick some ass in the half marathon. I enjoy running but holy crap, I couldn't imagine running that distance. She has done a dozen or so full marathons (26.2 miles... crazy).
About a week after I returned home, I pulled the trigger and ordered the XS1200 motor which should be here in a few weeks. I can't wait! :Banane57:
So anyway, just wanted to share my quick story. Couple pics for kicks.
