SX/SXi/SXi Pro My new (to me) ski. 92 750sx

Hey everyone,

I just picked this ski up the other day and put it in the water today. The starter switch is a little wonky and has a bad connection but that’s an easy fix.

It starts right up and seems to run fine, but I did notice a few concerning issues:

A.) It didn’t have a spark arrester, and the previous owner said he didn’t run one. I feel as though I need one, no?

B.) It wasn’t pissing. It would shoot out a little water every once in a while, but it was definitely a pulsation, not a steady stream.

I ran it for about 20 minutes total on and off, checking the motor temp with my hand. I could keep it on there for about one second second before I had to pull it off.

It may have gone into limp mode once or twice but only very briefly.

It was definitely shooting through the exhaust port but I can’t figure out why it isn’t pissing. I want to show some pictures because it looks as though something is bypassed.

If that sensor is being bypassed, why wouldn’t it be pissing? If the tube is coming straight from the motor to the thru/hill? I took it off and blew water through it just fine.

Lastly, could anyone tell me what this ride plate is?

Thanks for your help!

I apologize for the multiple posts, I’m learning how to edit. Here is a photo of the entire engine showing the carb and the lack of spark arrestor.
