I mixed the same enamel (different color) 50/50 with mineral spirits just like that guy said he did. Rustolium paint is already pretty thin. Mixing it so much thinner restuled in a runny mess. It didn't go on smooth and it was very runny. I have a hard time believing that this method would result in a quality paint job. I could take a picture of what I painted tonight and you'd think it looked great. Pictures are deceiving. It looks like ********. I'm going to sand it smooth tomorrow and roll with no thinner. The stuff I have painted w/o thinner looks great. The thin stuff looks like a mess.
I painted my engine with the same unthinned color right after I painted the hull with the thinned paint. The engine looks wonderful. The hull looks like crap. Fortunatly, the hull is easy to correct.
PS. Rustolium primer does not mix with thinner.
