Stunt hull kit is $1800 I think. BOB is ready to ride $3500
That price difference is money well spent in my opinion.
I got nearly 2 hours riding in yesterday. Not hard riding, mostly just playing around. The 8 liter cart tank is getting old. I'm probably going to get Raisinbread to help me build an aluminum 4.5 gallon tank like in his Rev (with WDK pipe). As of now chasing cruisers is kind of dicey because of fuel consumption. I need cylinder deactivation like car manufacturers are doing now: cruise out on 473cc's and then flip the other cylinder back on when I need the power. Haha. (P.S. it's not as simple as just cutting spark to one cylinder because the "off" cylinder will still draw fuel through the carb).
And speaking of cylinder deactivation....I had a problem yesterday, the first engine/electrical problem I've had in a while. I was goofing off and doing some turn subs. The front of the ski was about 1-2 inches below water. Then all of a sudden I was way down on power and the engine sounded off.
Anytime something like that happens and the last thing you did was underwater - like a sub or a fountain all I can think is water intrusion. I limp it back to shore and start looking. I can't find a problem but it definitely runs like crap. I am thinking bent rod or destroyed piston or anything!!
We pack up and head home. I get to my home shop and want to do a compression test, only to find out my gauges are at the work shop. So I end up pulling the head off: No damaged o-rings, no damaged pistons, I turn it over by hand and the pistons have identical TDC and Bottom DC so no obviously bent rods. Whew!! mechanical damage avoided.
Broke out the spark testers: 12" test leads with clips on them large enough to clamp to a spark plug, then attach the other end to a ground, sure beats holding a spark plug with your hand and hoping you don't get shocked. I found the back cylinder wasn't firing. To make an already long story shorter, I eventually found a wire broken wire on the #2 pickup. It was broken INSIDE UNDAMAGED INSULATION. I have no clue what caused it to break. I managed to solder it back together and put heat shrink over the joint. Got her all buttoned back up and ready to go out again today.
We were out Friday night and Zoonwen's girlfriend had a new digital SLR camera on the boat. She got a couple of good shots of me:
