You should have your wife out there helping you. After about a week, she'll be on the pc helping you pick out your new hull. On the other hand, you're gonna learn a lot of skills that can be taken to other hobbies in the future.

I bought a snowmobile without telling her once, she didn't even get to see it before I broke my neck on it, she was a little upset.

The title is more of an attention grabber, the truth is I just don't have $8000 to put out there for a rickter.

I honestly didn't realize a bob was so reasonably priced, anyway I like building stuff and I'm laid off,

That is a good deal!! Thanks but all my money is going to mortgages, any bits of cash I make can slowly go into this.... I have much of the materials here anyway, going for debt free before 40

Hahaha my wife doesn't go in the shop. EVER! I've tried but she has no interest, I work with fibreglass a lot at work for general boat repairs and we have a couple swimplatform molds we've made and sell one or two of those a year, I'm very I interested in learning vacuum infusion but so far that a long way off

So I have cut about 6" out of the hull -3 from the back and -3 from the front, now my plan was to take most of the length out of the front. I'm thinking about moving the deck 2" forward so I only lose an inch of tray.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? I run total loss so I can make the mount for it clear the pipe easy enough,

Cut the bottom but let the tray over hang the back, a lot of am ski are that way.

I was thinking it would be more beneficial to move the pole pivot ahead and down and move my weight forward, I am afraid that with the 3" off the back this thing is going to ride nose high, I also want to keep enough tray for a front foot hold,

I made an aftermarket hood that is light and it floats! I'm not so sure it's strong enough but here is a picture of my styrofoam superjet so far, I'm basically carving it like a surf board, this is just for a plug to build my carbon deck and hood.
