Name a mod to your ski you wish you didn't do.

b-pipe, over priced for the +hp you gain

That surprises me.
The b-pipe has been the most significant performance enhancing mod I've done on both ski's.

Maybe you need to tune that puppy in!

But...I'm about to get a bored nozzle. I've heard mixed reviews on the performance enhancement. I'm actually surprised that the bored nozzle has not yet been mentioned in this thread.
I'm still gonna try it. It's not expensive.

i dont have a problem with any mod i did to the ski. just the mod i did to my bank account. it got a nasty air leak and burned up everything inside.

Amen.

Seems like everyone is just plain embarassed about thier scuppers. (I don't have 'em, but everyone I know who does sinks at the beach)

If you're not competing, you don't need 'em.
And you won't have to buy scissor stands to keep you from sinking at the beach.

Scuppers? You mean sinkers.

YES! I love my front foothold, best thing ever.
I wish I knew they existed before I went drilling on my tray to set up that strap.
I had to seal the holes and put a small piece of turf over them.
I would have to Returf the entire tray to make it look clean.

Worst: Side exhaust! totally to loud to just be able to tailspin! Someone on the X said to take an adj freeze plug and put it in the hole.Till l can glass over it that will work.

Scuppers, always some negitive talk about them.l've had them in two skis with no complaints.l ran 2 500 Rules for a long time and just got tired of messing with them.So l tried a scupper. But l do agree with Dan so far as just competing. One thing l won't do again is pay $90-100 bucks for a one way valve and some pvc.My last one cost me $20 to do.

JSU "old style" girdled head kit where you have to shim the king nuts and grind into the water jacket.. PITA! and I forked up the shimming while speed building a fresh top and it sheered the case studs off and the juggs came loose at WOT. DNF that moto haha..

Damn now you have me worried. Good thing I still have a stocker on the shelf. Do you have aftermarket reeds or stuffers?

What was your engine setup and what jetting were you running? Open flame arrestors or stockers? What size springs? popoff psi?

2004 701 bored over to 82.5 (now a 727) B-pipe, ADA Head 33 cc domes. LPW Freestyle ported, MSD Enhancer, lightened flywheel. Stock 38s Jetted to p-75/m-137.5, stock airbox, stock reeds, no stuffers.

Now, I am not saying that this couldn't work for somenone else, or that someone else couldn't dial these in. I just got sick of messing with it. I think the risk outweighs the potential reward. Risk just being losing time on the water from messing with carbs when I'd rather just ride.

Modded 38's (other than jetting for a pipe) NEVER WORKS. They run crisp and clean in OEM form and we all tink we can get more from them (NOT TRUE) if you want more buy bigger better carbs and leave the 38's un molested. I have seen them messed with and destroy the power on a ski MANY TIMES.
