NC registering South Carolina trailer with no title

So south Carolina doesn't title their trailers, the chicken I just bought came with a trailer that I have no bill of sale for and I can't haven't gotten a response from the seller, plus he's a 3hr drive from me.

Anyone in nc have luck registering a manufactured trailer as homebuilt? Or am I better off finding an old junk trailer in the weeds with a title and switching a few tags around?

If it has a VIN number, NC DMV will run it. Got a trailer out of Tennessee registered this way. Check axle and tongue for number
