need advice buying a used Mac Pro (tower)

My macbook pro crashed again (it overheats and melts its own circuit board) baked it in the oven and saved it, but I know I need something more substantial.

Every used tower I see is so professional, modified, and full of power that I'm not sure I need. (I know-its like the lamborghini of computers so i'll find a LOT like that).

If someone can steer me in the direction of a nice used mac pro, or what to look for that would rock! I really wanna just chat with a mac snob in person and pick their brain (I can make banana bread and trade that for your time).

I used to to video editing, but my macbook coouldn't handle it after a while, now I don't edit so much. Mostly just browsing on internet, downloading music, watching movies. etc.

I don't want an imac, I have no room for it. I have my own HD tv, and I was using it to connect to my macbook, so I wondered if I could use it as a screen for Mac Pro, and get a wireless keyboard and scroll pad too for it.

The 'spaceship' macbooks on ebay are almost $2000 and I might as well get one brand new for that price. Would I be ok with maybe a 2010 mid level macpro? I'm looking maybe in the range of $800-$1200.

Anyone?

Send me the banana bread,
I'll send you a list of parts off of newegg that will destroy a mac pro.
32 gigs memory, 4.2ghz proc, 2tb drive, 500gb ssd drive, nice video card, totals up to $1200

Then load mac osx on it

When you say 'destroy' a mac pro. . . . You mean grab myself a PC tower and await your instruction? Or grab myself a mac pro tower as cheap as I can get it, and UPGRADE it myself ?

(Thanks in advance for the reply :) Much appreciated)

I fully agree. ALL manufacturers use the same components from china arranged in a different way to avoid copyright. Apple does not use anything special and even if the circuit boards appear different...they are all mapped the same. Save yourself the idiot tax most apple owners are slapped with and find an intelligent solution to a dumb manufacturer problem.
