Need advice-

Hey Guys,
I'm relatively new to the site and could use some advice from you smart guys. I had a build done remotely by a shop that I won't name, but you all will know. I sent them all the guts from an '08 Super Jet that was in nearly new condition to put in their new hull and build a freestyle boat for me. I've been frustrated with the performance, and in talking with another supplier (found on this site) to add a better trim system, I've learned the builder put in a Kawi pump (among other odd things), so I'm running a Yamaha based machine with a Kawi pump. Does anyone have any idea why they would do that? I have a couple more related questions, but will start here for now. Thanks for any guidance you can give. Thanks

Thanks. Does that also explain why a drop nozzle was used? Apparently they are normally used for racing, and this one had to be flipped over in order to get trim, so everything is now on the opposite side from where it normally is. Any thoughts on that?

the micros i have ridden are very nose high, maybe it was done to keep it more stable.... the builder should answer these questions as they know why they did it and why

Thanks Scraggly, I'm just hoping to get some unbiased perspective so I'll know what questions to ask the builder, and I really appreciate your input. Thanks again.

Some freestylers on flat water use a reversed drop nozzle to make bigger set up wakes and to pop the nose for back flips.

In summary, we're having a really hard time flipping the boat. Some of it is rider related, of course, but the boat doesn't seem to be performing as it should. I'm focused right now on the trim and that's what started my questions. There is virtually no difference in ride with trim lever fully pulled compared to not pulled at all, so I think this reduces lift and ease of rotation. In addition, the boat has MSD enhancer, but I'm wondering if it's worth adding Total Loss to get better pop, though that's a separate topic.

In short flipping a 701 boat isn't the easiest. It's a combination of body movement and setup wake. Have you tried off a boat wake? Post a video and we can hear and see things to help you.

I think your looking for the power of a big bore out of a stock motor. I would port and modify before going total loss. Its going to be hard work to flip a stock 701 unless your a experienced rider. I only ever ended up pole first on a 701 superfreak. with enough skill even a stock superjet hull will flatwater flip, so anythings possible.

I have always been told trim helps rotation, but hurts height. If that sounds like your problem, try no trim? I am no expert on flips, just what ive learned and been told. Hope it helps a little!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback.

I fonNt have any video of me riding, and we're mostly iced over now, so it may be a bit before I can post any video footage. Sorry.

I dont wanna sounds arrogant or anything, but have you or the guys who rode your ski, flatwater flipped a jetski before? Yet at 701cc jetski ?
For the frustration about performance, do you have anything to compare it with in the same cc. range?

No worries, it's a great question. We've not flipped another 701cc either, just a 900 XFS, so it's probably not a fair comparion, just seems like it struggles more than it should, but it's at least partly rider related, I'm sure. Thanks
