well i now have another starting issue... I hit the start and nothign happens

i pulled the ebox and jumped the noid/relay and it turns over.
i cross the red/brown wires from the plug going into the ebox i get a small spark but still nothing.
cross the black/white going into the ebox and dont get anyhitng, (gessing this is the stop switch)

wish i had an ohm meter to check the wires going up the pole to the start/stop... does this sound like where my problem lyes?
is there a way i can hook up like a 9v and a light bulb and creat a circut to test for an open/closed circut?

not shure what happened to make the ski just die, i let my friend take it out and 20mins later he's swimming it back in...:frown: but deff sould like a short in the start/stop.?????

if youre bridging the brown/red from the box and its not starting, but just sparking, it sounds like it could be the solenoid. you should be getting 12vdc at the 2 small wires on the solenoid when the start button is pressed. if you are, its toast. did you check your fuse?

well when i jump my noid with a screwdriver the starter turns over...
i'm taking a small wire and sticking it into the female waterproof connector leading into teh ebox tuching the 2 post compleating the circut.. getting a small spark on the red/brown...
wheres the fuse?

right, because youre bypassing it.

the fuse 'should' be behind the cap on the front of the e-box. some people remove it and the holder altogether.

no, thats your regulator/rectifier.

the fuse is an inline fuse housed in a black rubber casing. its in the small red wire coming off the solenoid.

just put 12vdc dirctly to the 2 small wires on the solenoid and see if it clicks.

i dubble checked, the lil red wire coming off the noid go directly into the msd.. no fuse.. that i can see... i mean i would see it right? it cant be the size of a pice of hair?

your cap looks sealed shut so the previous owner probably did away with the fuse too.

on the solenoid, connect the brown to + and the black to -

wont me to take the brown(+) and black(-) wires comeing off the noid and connect them directly to my battery?

ok well there goes my 2ed noid in a month, no clicking... does the fuse help protect the noid or the msd?

might need to get one...

you putting used solenoids on there? they dont normally go bad. a fuse wont stop it from going bad. itll just save the rest of the system if theres a short somewhere.

yes, i know the first noid that went bad was not the stock noid, but i got cheap $10 noid form a bord member.. and now this one has gone bad...

wont a 9v battery haev enouf power to hear teh clicking? and shure the ski's battery is overpowering them, once directly connected???

overpowering a 12 volt solenoid with 12 volts? i dont think so. if you want to second guess and troubleshoot your electrical system with a 9 volt battery, go for it!

ok i got a relay from a yamaha wave runner III, appears teh same as my old one.

anyhow i got and test it on the battery.. Click

i install the relay, hook everything back up and hit the start button.. Click , click... but nothing turned.....

i jump the post on the relay and i can hear the starter turn for a fraction of a second.

go back and hit the start button, click, clikc, click, starter ingages for a fraction of a second, click, clikc, clikc, click, click,,, and never did get it to ingage agen..

so i assume i need to pull the starter...???????? or is there a way i can test just the starter... or a way i can free it up?????

any tips for a noobie.. on the easyist way to get that thing out.. i'm running a bpipe and i can only see the starters wires leeding behind the manafold.. this looks like a long job...

thanks

make sure your battery is FULLY charged and not from walmart.

if you need to remove your starter, the easiest way, with a b pipe, is to remove the head pipe. you can leave the chamber in place. its a 10 minute job to get the start out
