Hello? Take two same skis, only difference is the one that runs tits has 38's and the other has 44's... What else can it be? Like I said, it's a fresh rebuild. Motor and carbs all rebuilt. And it doesn't run right. What else besides carbs can it be? Carbs are the brains of the operation. And how does it look like I don't to take the time to learn? Wow... Dbag. I have read up on skis on the regular for 4 years now and put countless hours into making mine better. I love the sport. I do want to put time in to learn and I try my best so F off with stupid statements. Man really? I ask for help... This is what a get. Smart ass comments.... D1ck heads

you the Dbag dude look at the way you speak to people they have given you advice there is nothing else they can help you with

if you serious about help call art at jetworks or the guys at full spec until then stop being disrespectful

I am not being disrespectful. I'm telling people who are being smart asses to me to piss off. That's just sticking up for myself. I can be very nice and thankful to someone who provides help. Yes, art, I've talked to him a few times. Way cool guy. I just hate to call a business and take up their time for free over the phone help. He has more important stuff to do I'm sure.

Idk what your hang up is with " how I talk to people" but if u read everything, I never really got any advice out of this thread so far... Couple people asked what my build is and what is in my carbs and I simply told them what I am running. The rest of everyone just made smart ass remarks. Don't like how I talk to smart asses who are trashing the thread talking chit rather than help me if they can? Well that's too bad buddy. But it is not disrespectful of me to not take bs from people. I nicely asked for help from the jet ski community. I don't need wise cracks and put downs

LOL I swear when people post 3 times in a row in the middle of the night/morning all emo like that, all I see is a drunk guy on his couch with a laptop...

"EFF you man! You don't know me....!"

But dude, seriously, if you can just chill out for a second and (normally I say have a drink buuuuut..... ) just chill out.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR SKI?
WHAT. IS. WRONG. WITH. YOUR. SKI?

Symptoms... whats is it doing or not doing?

Seriously? You keep saying "It doesn't run right." That could mean hundreds of things. Specifically, whats wrong?

Specific spot in the power band that feels sluggish?
It's not hitting right?

I mean, nobody can help you fix the problem until you describe what the problem is. And saying "Its slower than my buddies ski" doesn't help me or anyone else try and help you.

So you can cry all you want about how nobody will help you and we're all smart asses (I'm a total smart ass, and you getting all twisted up brings me great pleasure that I simply cannot describe with words...) But i'd be happy to try and help, and i'm sure others would as well. But you have to help us help you.

Ditch those oem 44's. they are hard to tune. Or get a set of 4 hole mikuni 44's. those lean burn 3 hole carbs are a pain.

Or an even better choice is to go oem 38's and I bet you make more bottom end while easier to tune. I went from blackjack 44's to oem 38's on my 771 and noticed only a slight loss of power but a huge gain in fuel mileage.

Yea yea I know all this about telling about what's wrong but before I ramble on, I'm looking for someone to say, hey, I know my :):):):). Tell me all about it. Like I've said, doesn't lean or rich bog. It just doesn't sound like its trying.. Like it has a plug in its ass. Doesn't hit hard enough, doesn't rev out high enough and doesn't blast through rough water like it should. Little waves bog it down when ya slam em. An abnormal amount we are talking here. I'm not over propped and its a 9/15 hooker, nice impeller. It also definitely seems to have an air leak. But this just can't be.. All my gaskets should have been great. So I did new crank seals (which when I opened it up were obviously bad) and I put it back together properly all torqued with yamabond. Except hole 5 was stripped so I ran it missing a case bolt for a while.

Idk why that message posted I wasn't done... But I bought new mint condition cases. And all new gaskets on the whole motor. And new head o rings, sealed it up and expected better and went out today. Nope. Still seems to air leak. It idles much higher out of the water than in the water and it doesn't rev down fast enough out of the water after giving it some throttle. Hell in the past I've even had it run away on me a couple times. Luckily it shut itself off somehow... Twice. And it did it again last night but the filters were off so I just covered the carbs with my hands to shut it down. Nothing else will stop it when it does that. So that's my issue with it. Thing runs weak. Doesn't feel rich nor lean just... Feels like its being held back. And the air leak symptom. Only thing I found that isn't perfectly solid is the throttle shafts they have slop in their holes. Carbs grooved out I suppose? It's not a ton of slop but a fair amount.. They aren't snug through the carbs. Shafts are new. Everything in the carbs is new fully rebuilt.. All mikuni parts no rip off brand garbage. I've rebuilt everything all legit and this is really bummin me out

Thanks bruceski, that's good knowledge on the 38's. I didnt know they were easier to tune but I knew I could jet it the same as my friends and should run just like his being we have the same motor and exhaust. Same ski pretty much.. But hang up is I don't look forward to selling out of my expensive nice set up that I like so much. To downgrade to stock stuff.. I have the nice r&d intake for 44's that wide spreads the carbs and carbs bolt to the billet plate. Really nice for working on. Hate to get rid if it. And what's this 4 hole, 3 hole stuff? Didnt realize there were different types of 44's? Other than there's the I serious ones that have a bigger fuel pump section. I have the smaller square pump carbs. Superbn

I've never had 38's... Don't have any to reinstall. Should be able to get 44's to run well. Racers them or even bigger. All the big crazy high performance motors run big carbs. They must be tuneable I'm not giving up :) no, I haven't done a leak down test. But like I said, what are the odds of it leaking somewhere? I've torn down and rebuilt 3 times.. This time with better cases and all new gaskets once again. Wtf could be leaking? There's nothing to fail. I'm not set up to pressure test. Never done it not something I'm familiar with but I've given no reason for there to be a leak. If its leaking after being properly rebuilt time after time, then the design just sucks. Which it doesn't. I know these are great motors

You will be suprised how easliy a motor can have a leak. Sort out the basics so you can be certain of where the problem is. Leakdown test can be easily done, just need to make up seals from gasket material to block exhaust and intake, pressurise engine with hand/foot pump, spray soapy water on all seams/joints to look for bubbles.
