Need Help Deciding on an engine

I have a Toby T1 hull on order, super excited about that. I am having trouble on choosing an engine for the ski. Hoping to get some advice.

I am going to go all out on this build, while it would be nice to save money, budget is not a concern. Looking for the best setup for what I want to do.

I live in Colorado, at 5,000 feet elevation where it is flatwater riding. In the winter, I plan to keep the ski in California, where I will ride surf and go to havasu.

That being said, I am going to need two sets of domes and tuning specs for different elevations. Looking for a builder who is good at communication and can help me tune the engine for both elevations. I am by no means a tuner, and am willing to pay for tuning to get the engine running optimal.

On flatwater, I am looking to do big single flips, chase boats. Combos are not important to me. Also need a motor rides decent in surf.

Pump gas is a must for me, 91 octane. I am thinking of running an enhancer with jetenetics charging flywheel, but will go total loss (ATP) if engine builder thinks it is important.

Going to run a 155 set back mag pump, and whatever carbs and pipe the builder recommends. A low maintenance motor would be ideal.

Engines I have been looking at:

TPE 964
TPE 1035
ET 967
PHP 898

Any help I can get would be appreciated. Let me know your opinions.

If your planning to run pump gas at 5000 ft and want performance enough to consistently lay down large flatwater backflips my recommendation is build as large of an engine as possible. The old saying “There is no replacement for displacement” holds very true especially at elevation. Tighter domes help but are no means going to net you the same power you will have at lower elevation. Engine is an air pump, so riding where you have no air you need a big air pump! I’m not going to get into the engine brand or builder debate but I’m very familiar with making power at elevation and regardless of brand, go big displacement. Building the CC’s with added stroke vs stock stroke motors will help build torque. Have fun, sounds Ike a fun build coming up.

Nice build coming up!

I suggest either of the TPE motors you have listed. You cant go wrong with either.
Unmatched reliability! I have been building Neil O (RCBMfreeride) motors for years. He is in Colorodo springs
So know how to build them for elevation. Please contact me privately to discuss and to quote.

I also ride a T1! You will absolutely LOVE this hull!

100% TPE. I have one of the first 1105's ever built. Its on its third season without being rebuilt. Very reliable motors. For the little difference in price between the stock stroke and the 10mil crank, the 10mil is the best bang for the buck.

I have a brand new PHP 4mm long block. Fully ported cylinder and cases. Brand new Billet 4mm crank, brand new 83mm prox, oem seals, long block with stroker ada domes. Never installed.

I would deff go for 10mm 11000cc. Yes you can make stock stroke perform awesome, but you might have a challenge with your elevation.
second, whats you budget limit?
I really like the TPE design and Erik. The ideal engine in my opinion is a sleeved TPE cast engine.
So DASA 10mm 1100cc or TPE 1105 and the low budget contender ET 1107

Et1100 for sure best bang for your buck.

Mate had just got one and reckon it has equal if not more power than my dasa 1200 16mm.
