Need help modding and freshening up trailer

Another thing I did was tapped the 2x4 at the end where the ski's enter the trailer. Tapered over a 5 or 6 inch area towards the rear tip so I didn't have a blunt 2x4 at the loading end. Not sure it's really required though

Interesting, ill have to experiment with wrapping. The bunk I have now are already cut at a 45 so I planned on doing the same with the new ones. Ill post pictures when I get them all wrapped up and bolted in.

Well ive arrived at the next hurdle. Not sure what these posts are actually called but it appears I will have to fab up a three post design to bolt into the existing two mounts. The existing posts cannot be mounted any farther to the outside because there isn't any frame rails underneath so I am planning on welding three of these posts at the spacing I need to one piece of horizontal square tubing with two perpendicular sections of square tubing going down to the original two u-bolt mounts. Any thoughts or tips?

This is the only pic I could find of my old setup. I welded a horizontal cross bar on to the stem. Then welded on a vertical piece at each end for the stolz stop to bolt too. Also shows a bit of the carpeted bunks.

Worked great, but I always used ratchet straps on the rear of the skis to hold them down. So the bracket was only put under strain while pulling the skis up the boat launch.

Another idea, welding a piece of box tube between the two upright at the height needed for the center ski and attaching your stolz to it for the center ski.......Then weld two more pieces of box tube at the height needed, one each side of the uprights extending out wards however many inches are needed and attaching your stolz for each outside ski.

If needed you can weld box tube too these new horizontal pieces and extend back towards a ski if needed.....

Or weld one piece of box across the two uprights and attach your stolz or extend towards a ski as needed and attach the stolz

Both my skis use stolz and extend out from my tool boximage.jpg

Good ideas Harbor! My only dilemma would be that I will often be switching out some skis for others so I would need something adjustable in height. So the posts I have now would be perfect if I could pick up another one of those. Know off the top of your head where I can buy one or what they are officially called so I can search for them?

You mean the steel tubing with holes? Just go chop a street sign down.

Thought of another way to do this. If your going to want to use the factory adjustable bow posts in 3 positions now, what about either extending the box tube they attach to out further on each side so you can mount where you want or add another box tube in front of or behind the existing box tube and mount the three bow posts to that

Are you talking about welding another crossmember underneath the trailer? Having a hard time picturing what you're describing

Yes that's the idea. weld a new cross member under trailer that's wide enough to attach the three uprights too at the desired width

You already have two uprights and hardware so all you may need is another upright and hardware plus box tube to make a new cross member and it will remain fully adjustable and be OE looking

I don't know what your trailer uses for a cross member for the uprights to attach to, for complete comparability and adjustability you'd use the same material for the cross member just make it full width if that's what's needed to get your outside skis to attach to a bow stop post

The trailer just has to sections of tubing welded length wise of the trailer for each post, so I would have to weld in three seperate sections of tubing to make one width wide piece.

From a fabrication standpoint it looks like it would be easier to just weld up something like this and buy another adjustable post for the center stolz stop
