Don't do it! After several people I ride with have blown out their one way valves and sunk their skis, I'm now against scuppers. Put in two bilge pumps and call it a day.
If your set on putting in a scupper/one way valve, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!

Dont worry about blowing it out, either dump the drain out into your pump cavity or if you do go straight out the back, protect the one way with a scupper valve. Heres a couple pics of my install.

-it helps to remove alot of foam if you plan on running it into the pump cavity
measure twice, cut once, glass less

Creative RE Purchasing
This subject has been beaten to death. So many opinions, methods, and stories. I purchased a hull with a 1 inch dump tube with a duck bill on the back. I have been running it for 6 months now. I like it, but worry about the duckbill ripping off. Especially riding in the surf. But I shouldn't be landing on the tail any ways, I should be going in nose first, right guys? I keep any extra on as a back up. I also run two 500gph bilges.

I might block it off one day... we'll see.

I'd be cool if the end of tube was recessed, and the duckbill say a little inside the hull.

I've never broken one....

I use the heavy duty 2.5" sqare sump dump drain valve though.... the 1.5"-2" will break... they are pretty weak in comparison....

the 2.5" has a steel flapper valve, not just rubber and is very beefy...

I have a 2" with a stainless flap and rubber seal, if you do get one, stay away from the plastic flap or one with a spring holding the flap shut.

Scuppers and one way valves are for flatwater, dual bilge pumps are for the surf.

If you have a scupper or one way valve for flatwater, and want to go to the surf, I run this plug in the bilge side of my supper tube.

Works a treat!

where'd you get that ?

yea dont do it, ski died and that was it. I am sure water came from elsewhere but I think it was the main cause. Held the ski maybe 5 inches out of the water at dusk drifiting for atleast a half hour until a boat rolled up, screaming let go of the ski, I said keep going or take me and the ski. I will never install another.

This is what I think. I have not blown mine out, and ride surf, but would probably not do it again.

I whole heartedly disagree even after towing Eddie in after his got stuck open. Nothing removes water as well as a scupper. And after sinking a square nose with no scupper, I'll never run a ski without one again. Getting towed in was the worst experience I've ever had.....the bilge pumps were trashed, and I had no where for water to go. This caused the ski to just submarine while getting towed.

Several months later, Ross had a similar situation. His ski drug along the bottom of the harbor on the way to the ramp.

I'd like to think I'm running the best of both worlds...... running just a 2" HD sump one way installed towards the bulkhead with a screw cap/block-off on the exterior of the ski.... to get the block-off to sit flush with the back of the ski I had to use two 45* curves which help keep the one-way sitting "down" so backwards water pressure holds the flapper closed.

I keep the block-off cap in my right foothold where my foot doesn't reach for easy access whenever I need it.... I ride goofy footed mostly. I went this route b/c my sits in the water unattended and wanted the option to block it off.... although my one way does not leak like others have had happen... I like to think it's because of the angle the valve is installed.
