Need help removing handlepole

it wont just slide out unless already loose!!!!!!!! you could use a hack saw and go ahead and cut it at the base, pull away then chisel/pry the rest out, I dont know about using west systems for that, I have used JB Weld and Marine Tex, would stick with those two.

If I cut it at the base does that take exactly 1.5in off? Then I guess I would need to take another .5 in off of the bottom of the pole if I wanted a -2 pole.

I picked up a set of straight bars today off of NJFL so I am going to go with -2 for now and if -4 total isn't enough then I'll throw the straight bars on there for another .5-1in.

I see this thread is now in a TECH FAQ Section. :arms: Thanks Michael950:biggthumpup:

If I can come up with a digital camera while I shorten the pole then I'll take some pics of the procedure and ad it to the TECH FAQ Section. Unfortunately my digital camera was stolen so I'll see what I can do.

I used bolts also so that you don't have to worry about rivets. and I would line it up on the ski and before you drill holes. The 4 holes that you can reach on the top are enough to keep it alilgned with the hood. Then take it back apart and use jbweld or epoxy of choice. The pole can be crooked enough in the bracket to hit the hood. It only takes a fraction at the base to result in an inch or so of misalignment on the other end of the pole.

My first attempt was off enough that I had to drill the rivets out and beat the bottom bracket off before the glue set up. Then I reatached it with bolts the other times.

It is usually not that big of a deal. You will have the tank and grommet out anyway. If you are worried about getting it back through the pole, just attach a piece of string to it before you pull it out. Leave the string and use it as a pull through when you are ready to put it back together.
