Need Help - Superjet shocks me

Here's the deal,sj runs good for 20 or 30 minutes, then starts to break up bad. When I go to look at plugs I get shocked from the wrench on the head. It doesn't shock me later just right after riding and breaking up. Here's what I have replaced/fixed so far: new coil, stator, went through groundwires in electric box, went through battery connections at starter, plug caps crimp on, went though carbs ,unplugged stop switch. Now here's the twist, had mechanic put in a new stator for me and when he was checking spark the wires wrapped around the back coupler and thrashed the wires. He repaired the wires and called it good. I ride in saltwater its a 97 sj 62t/62t with riva drypipe ada head low comp. stock carbs. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks,
Bob

IM thinking everything we need to KNOW is below in his quote, Shonuff.

also, search here for schematic and you will find one for your superjet.

when you study it, you will find live voltage in that wire harness he screwed up.

to fix your problem do these things.

step 1: find another mechanic

step 2: print out that shematic, get some heat shrink tubing, and a soldering iron and fix the problem.

step 3: dont use dumb mechanics.

Oh yeah,

the only circuit that should stay "live" after riding would be a screwy wired over heat sensor.

so check that overheat sensor wiring good ( related to your only shocked after the engine is running for while, and then not after it cools down description)

It sounds the the coil is still holding voltage and is earthing out when you takke a tool the ski. One thing is for sure, your witing is screwed up!

Are you running an MSD TL or Advent by any chance?

Thanks guys for the help,im running stock cdi in it now. Also the ski was running the same way before the mechanic did the work. And i swapt out msd enhancer to stock ,i thought it went bad. That pink wire is unplug in my box? Thanks agin Bob

I would seriously look at the repair job on your wiring. It only takes a few volts to feel a shock especially in salt water. I would re do the repaired connections with some good water proof butt splices. I use the Perma Seal type connectors that are marketed through the Gardner Bender brand at Lowes. They are crimp style connectors that are heat shrinkable with an adhesive that seals the deal once you shrink them. Soldering & heat shrink can still expose the live wire to water. Get your electrics sealed and make sure all ground wires are good and your problems will go away.

I dont understand why it would only do it after its ran for a while though?

and does it only do it once?

if you take a meter and go from the top of head ( where shocks you) to the black on battery, does it show voltage? just once? or always?

this would tell if its the coil leaking, or something else.

My guess is one of the few live wires in the bundle.

Wen't though elec. box yesterday.Every connection cleaned and greased clipped and crimped sparkplug boots .Found big red positive wires going from battery to elec. box.And box to starter to have sleeves that held saltwater?.Fixed those ,started ski sounded great test thrusday. Thanks guys Bob
