Some help fromt he legal minded people of the forum would be great. I closed a sponsorship deal for 2007 for cash. This is my first one and I'm in need of a contract for both she and I to sign. It does not have to be a 5 page insane document. Just a paper showing that both parties agree to trade service/promotion for the payable fee agreed upon.

Can anyone suggest how to write this? write one for me? show me a link?

Although I agree with BK, it's probably better to at least outline what is expected by both parties for the sponsorship, and put that down on paper.

good luck...

You are going to want the contract to state what is expected. ie: You agree to do a minimum of 5 shows in exchange for the sponsorship. I'm sure she has an expectation of a certain amount of exposure.

You also need to cover what happens if you get seriously hurt (or worse) and don't fulfill the obligation (can't ride for the rest of the year, etc.). Sure would suck to get the money, get hurt and then find out she want some (or all) of it back and you were not expecting it.

I don't mean to be a downer, just get all of that out and on the table and write up something that states this and you both can sign it. A contract does not do much unless it's taken to court, of which, court fees and lawyer costs will easily out weigh the money she gave you so you'd be better off refunding her money if it ever came to that anyway.

So, just open up Word, type something up and sign it and call it good.

A contract is a great idea! Both sides should agree to a certain amount of money for a certain amount of event showings. This gives both sides an idea of what to expect.

You may included in the contract a clause stating any "conflic of interest" will forfit the agreement and the rider will have to re-pay the amount given. :sneaky:

I have been studying basic contract law for my insurance liscense...

Check the link above. It may help you formulate a contract...

Are you 18?

Minors and the mentally incompetent lack the legal capacity to enter into contracts. All others are generally assumed to have full power to bind themselves by entering into contracts. In most states, the legal age for entering into contracts is 18. The test for mental capacity is whether the party understood the nature and consequences of the transaction in question.
