Need help with Red Riva Pipe

Hey everyone, I am new here, and relatively new to jet ski's period. I have an automotive background so breaking things apart and putting them back together are pretty easy for me. Basically what happened is that I have a 94 VXR Pro that has a red riva pipe on it. This ski was flipped and towed to shore by a boat which flooded the engine compartment. I got all the issues resolved with it, but once I got it started two issues came up.

The first is that there is water leaking from the lower portion of the riva pipe where it seems the two lower pieces bolt together. I was told it could be the gasket, but since i havent broken it down I cannot say for sure. Has anyone had anything like that happen to them?

The second issue is that when she starts up, she immediately revs to max power like i have the throttle held down all the way. Now I have checked all throttle cables and the throttle itself, and everything there is in good order. Could this issue be caused by the gasket from the head of the carb connecting it to the carb body letting excess air in?

I appreciate the help to a newbie.

Yeah probably need a gasket on pipe, if the area around the leak has black exhaust soot it may need a weld, gonna have to clean it to make sure. How long has that motor been sitting/not been leakdown tested? Sounds like you have an air leak somewhere if the carbs are not stuck open.

The motor has only been sitting for 2 weeks and I had it running great after I re did the carb head gasket before it got flooded.

There is no black soot around the leak and I even ran it a couple days after the whole flooding issue until I realized when I got it home and flushed it that it even had a leak.

What is a leak down test?

Sounds like an air leak for sure, as far as the engine revving by itself. Usually it is a bad gasket on the intake side, carb and intake manifold gaskets. Could be a head gasket, flywheel cover gasket, crank seals as well. Leak down test will tell you if your cylinders hold pressure and if any pressure is leaking past your rings.
